Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from July 29, 2016 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm

Great Dylan cover!
@Lane-they used to have a lower bit rate option at one point, if I remember correctly. I generally find the pop up player is the smoothest connection, don't have problems with it (though the 128 I think is a bit better sounding). My $0.02
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
coelacanth:

Marie, yes - or "dormant".
- i wonder if it's even more painful for my records that rarely get played - looking across the room at that turntable longingly, seeing other records get cleaned and spun...

I think Lane is mobile. I think the limits of 3G will make all methods equal. The FMU app might be worth trying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm
doctorjazz:

I use the app on my HTC (Android) phone, works well in my neck of the woods.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Lane Gray:

I am mobile, and switched to a far cheaper plan that gives me 5G/month at 4G, then throttles me to 3G but unlimited total. I'll grab the app when I get home
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Jeff Golick:

The app does have mono and stereo stream options, one of which might travel a little lighter for 3G connex.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
listener james from westwood:

We're ripe for 90s nostalgia, so I can't imagine a Soul Asylum tour is too far off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Uncle Michael:

There's only a mono option for the main WFMU stream.
  12:57pm

Really, you should have segued from "Rainbow" to "Stairway to Heaven."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Lane Gray:

Today's safety tip: if you live near a state line, give trucks room and be cautious near the line: many of us STILL have to manually write down the state line mileage; this is a distraction. Just watched a guy nearly sideswipe a car on the Poplar Street Bridge)(St. Louis Mo)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Uncle Michael:

The spirit didn't move me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Jeff Golick:

In the app, @UM, the main stream pretty plainly sez "WFMU Stereo," with another option for mono. It may be that the GTDR stream is mono only, though.

Good tip, @Lane. Thanks.

Agree 97%. I think Zappa cared enough about it musically to show off his and his band's chops. The random punctuation with dog barking is a feature I suspect Page and Plant regret not having considered.
