Ike:

During the Tom Wilson "fill-in" on Monday, I got curious and googled him. That led me to the Texas Monthly article where you, Irwin, are quoted saying, "He didn’t want a handout, and didn’t claim victimhood because his skin was black."

Sometimes you really ARE a tedious ideologue with a hustle.

Laura L:

So we see the building on left is Hillary's jail--it the building on the right named "Jail Trump"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm

You should read more about Wilson, Ike. I was paraphrasing his own words. You can really be a tedious reactionary.

Hello, Irwin, and all of you tedious or non-tedious folks! I have love for all of you!

And welcome back, Irwin! I missed you.

I love you, Ike, in all your tedious reactionariness.
Avatar 3:20pm
Ike:

You seem defensive about your words. Do you feel the need to point out that you were paraphrasing him because you can see that what you said looks pretty bad, or are you willing to own what you said? Hiding behind "I was paraphrasing a black guy so it's okay" is weak tea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm

I own what I said. My name is attached to the quote. You're the one who seems uncomfortable with the comment.

I gave Ken Music Factory ep2 because he needed to plug a one-hour gap. It was not a good show. Wilson and Odetta spent too much of the hour laughing uproariously about not a lot of funny. I think Odetta was nervous and Wilson was trying to make her comfortable.

Lyle:

The Duke of Iron. A Wilkes-Barre native, if I am not mistaken. A neighbor of Rupert Holmes and often cited as the influence for the song, "Him." Fun Fact: He was Michael Pollard's stepfather, and he even had a cameo in the movie "Skeeters." It's a brief scene where he is impaled by a giant mosquito's proboscis in the men's room of a Stuckey's just outside of Lima, Ohio. He would later briefly serve as a spokesperson for Certs until Retsyn abuse sidelined him in 1977. Lost touch with him after that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm
Irwin:

Was that a typo, Linda? I can fix it. Or is that a term of qualitative supremacy I've missed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm

Lyle -- Yes, that was the Duke. It's amazing how much you know about these obscure cultural figures.

Thanks for keeping these comments open to potshots at yourself. But let's be honest: you love it. You're just a little like Trump in that respect.

Bowling teammates? Ha. Okay. I like that. I'll give that an ROTFL.
Avatar 4:22pm
Linda Lee:

i adore your show the most Irwin! i would never refer to your show as anything like a shit show. apologies!!

Well, there's jazz and then there's that yuppie easy listening music that passes for jazz in most outlets (including, I gotta say, most of WBGO's programming). I'm not much for brunch at restaurants (when it comes to Sunday, I like sitting around in my pajamas until 2 pm), but if I did go to a brunch and it turned out to be a jazz brunch, I would neither run screaming nor expect to hear any worthwhile music.
