Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from November 4, 2016 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Hey UM, thanks for this! I live in Chicago and grew up here (but moving to NYC soon!) and I was a hardcore cubs fan from about age 4 or 5 until they traded Bill Matlock; when I saw them make yet another decision based on money not baseball. Then they were bought by the Tribune company that just treated them like another aspect of their portfolio--no need to invest in them they were making enough $ with cable deals and beer sales. So I am no longer a fan but I am very happy for the fans and the city. Your tribute is great!

Let's see: I was wrapping up second grade with Mrs. Jenkins. Fast forward to the mid-to-late-'90s, I'm on my undergrad college's alumni board at an event where new members introduce themselves. One announces, "I'm Barbara Jenkins, and I was Dean's second grade teacher." No kidding.
