You should try and track the original owner of the 45s down.

As usual when afternoon passes into evening, I'm on my ipad, in my bedroom

Figure out what high school she most likely went to, find out if that school as an alumni page on Facebook...all kinds of strategies. You might have to find out her married name.
Avatar 10:17pm
Kris Holmes:

yeah i found which high school she graduated from in 1962

If my childhood collection of 45s stayed together, and the person who had them succeeded in geting ahold of me, I would want my collection back!

Doug Schulkind:

I saw the new Star Wars in 3D on Xmas w/the family. I remember standing on line waiting to see the original 40 years ago. Good evening Professor Holmes!

I saw Star Wars in the first day, 13 years old. I was a science fiction fan.

Oh man, the puerco was divine. It's generally inedible here.
Avatar 10:28pm
Kris Holmes:

awesome, we'll have to go
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
Uncle Michael:

I looked at the Breakaweights. I think the built in adapter i very cool, but I think I still prefer the idea of a clamp to a weight. A clamp puts no additional stress on a motor or bearing.
Avatar 10:30pm
Kris Holmes:

right
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
Uncle Michael:

A weight is much easier to use quickly though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm

Is this the flip to Ain't Got No Home?

Not as guilty as Patience & Prudence! That'll get you hard time.

I thought this was Johnnie Ray at first. Digging Sal!

Probably one of the few "teen idol" songs i can handle, just...

Doug Schulkind:

One of the two popular pizza joints in my neighborhood is called Mineo's. I've always wondered if they're related. Upon reflection, there aren't 47 pictures of Sal on the walls, so doubtful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm

I like the Ames Brothers.

ha, was my first experience, will obviously need to go back when i have more time, unfortunately it's located 2 & a half hours away, which doesn't make me really motivated to go

This early record by Slade is fascinating.
Avatar 11:18pm

yeah really different to their later stuff heh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm
Uncle Michael:

My jokes are getting stupider. I better go to bed.
  11:20pm
Dean:

Mine, too, just a week ago today, but 400 miles away, where my mother lives. I hadn't made an appointment...but that's because the frigging website doesn't say anything about appointments, nor did the live person on the phone when I called to inquire prior to the visit. When we arrived, we were greeted by a security guard who chuckled, "Folks get here 1/2 hour before we open!" There were probably 30 people seated rank and file in folding chairs. Utterly demoralizing.
  11:21pm
Dean:

[I guess I got me started on Social Security offices.]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
Uncle Michael:

Life is is more complicated when you like your mom.
Avatar 11:22pm
Kris Holmes:

yeah the looks on their faces were pretty demoralized come to think of it
  11:23pm
Dean:

This song, "All in the Game," must be experienced via Van Morrison and Keith Jarrett, independently, I mean.

"Life is ... complicated ...."
Avatar 11:24pm
Kris Holmes:

Tommy Edwards kinda nails it though, pretty great vocals
  11:26pm
Dean:

Good point. Van Morrison opposite-of-nails-it. He just sorta barfs it all over the place, as is his mode. And Jarrett, more or less vocal-less, puts it under a microscope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
Uncle Michael:

Checking out...great stuff, Kris. My compliments to Miss Shank.

Night all.
Avatar 11:35pm

Cheers Michael, thank you!
  11:40pm

Wow. What a treat. This Iron Souls is a brand new release?
Avatar 11:41pm
Kris Holmes:

yeah, will be for sale later this month, just came in last week
  11:45pm
Dean:

Label's in Detroit? Damn, I love Detroit, and I've never been there. Also, reminds me of Downey's late record store, Wenzel's Music Town, one amazing inventory of old 45s and such.
Avatar 11:47pm
Kris Holmes:

yep, Detroit label
Avatar 11:49pm
Kris Holmes:

some good 45s on their Downey label
  11:52pm
Dean:

At another beloved record store I now frequent, Down Home, I recently picked up a used LP of Robert Palmer's (he of "Sneakin' Sally" fame, too) that features Rick Danko and Garth Hudson. I had no idea such an object existed. It ain't bad.
Avatar 11:52pm
Kris Holmes:

also the old McDonalds there is super cool!!
  11:53pm
Dean:

Heh, yeah, that's a cool McDonald's!
  11:55pm
Dean:

These days it's impolitic (and not without reason), but I really enjoy the suburbs. You could spend some quality time tooling around Downey over a long weekend.
Avatar 11:55pm
Kris Holmes:

Robert Palmer isn't as banal as many might assume overall
Avatar 11:55pm
Kris Holmes:

I've enjoyed Downey
  11:56pm
Dean:

Friends turned me on to Palmer in the '70s. I blew it off until, oh, about five years ago. I really admire his work.
  11:59pm
Dean:

Was thinking of Chenier this weekend, speaking of Down Home. Goddamn. Nice closer!

thanks for tuning in & keeping me company team!
