Stevel:

Good to be in the Nazario oasis this morning. Quivering chins and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Looks like little Hammy the Hamster just listened to three hours of "Institutionalized" on Wake and Bake this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04am
Amanda:

I was very careful to line up the right number of guinea pigs so they would fill the top of my screen at home, now I'm using this square PC monitor and it is 2 guinea pigs too many
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05am
Stevel:

My GPs are equitably distributed, FYI.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am
listener james from westwood:

Finally in. Every bit of silicon in the fucking house is giving me good reasons to come at it with a hammer this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am
Amanda:

I mean, any number of guinea pigs can be the right number if you let it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am
listener james from westwood:

Glad to hear you're grabbing some time off someplace warm! And that you'll be back in town in time for Westminster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am
listener james from westwood:

I remembered that Osmond track being earlier, in my high school years (83–87) for some reason, maybe the tail end of same. Maybe b/c it matched the production/instrumentation of the day?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am
Amanda:

My source might have gotten the date wrong, or maybe the 12" single came out a little later. I'd never blame Donny Osmond for sounding just a couple of years behind the times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am
listener james from westwood:

Didn't hit US airwaves until 1989 (orig. a UK production in 1988), so you are correct on when I'd have heard it—after my dear dance with Catlick school at any rate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am
Amanda:

Omg, this song is such a ripoff of "Sunny" that I cannot even believe it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am
listener james from westwood:

Good artists copy; great artists steal.

Good AM, Amanda!

Hi @KP and welcome!
Avatar 10:15am

Ok, Major Stars. I have a goal for today. Are there still stores in NYC that sell new CDs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am
Amanda:

Try Generation in the West Village...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am
Uncle Michael:

Everybody chew!
Avatar 10:25am

Thanks. Speaking of rhe West Village, it was home to Buddy Holly and the place still has same 50's deco design
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am
Little Danny:

G'mornin Amanda and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am
Amanda:

I work in the same apartment building where he made those apartment tapes!

@Little Danny- Hi there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am
Little Danny:

I had never heard the Wrens before. Everything's due for a bit of recontextualization either way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am
Amanda:

I like that analysis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am

Get ready for a super Western set

Considering the course of the early morning, chill twang is hugely welcome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am
Parq:

Hi gang. I may have to leave that hamster thing up on my work puter monitor all day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am
Amanda:

HE IS A GUINEA PIG, JEEZ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am
Parq:

Oh, I was afraid I was gonna make that mistake. Sorry, we are bird and dog folk at our house.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am
Parq:

I have one kicked over to a second row on my monitor, by the way. Looks cool, actually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am
Ken From Hyde Park:

@Parq - I misidentified the critter, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am
Amanda:

What kinds of birds do you have, @Parq?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am
listener james from westwood:

Glad to hear this 79.5 track—FM megahit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am
listener james from westwood:

FMU megahit that should be. But it should be an FM megahit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am
Amanda:

It's starting to look like an FMU megahit at least!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am
listener james from westwood:

Joining the gloried ranks of "Gay Bar" and "A Minha Menina."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am

Oooh, this ep has a jerkass politician. Topical!

Season 1 & 2 animation oddities = the wonders of beginner's mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am
listener james from westwood:

(And of course financial/schedule make-do.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am
Parq:

Amanda, none currently, but we've had a parakeet and a cockatiel. They were both lots of fun, but the 'keet was a real talker. He'd picked up more than a dozen words and phrases, and when he wasn't mimicking speech, he would just chatter. We'd let him out of his cage and he would fly over to a bookcase and talk into it, digging the reverberation of his voice off the wood. We used to say he was consulting with his cabinet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am
listener james from westwood:

Wait, I'm confusing this ep w/ the Burns three-eyed-fish ep! Still a classic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am
listener james from westwood:

I didn't see the Homer-becomes-safety-inspector ep for years and that dark aspect of it was troubling!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am
listener james from westwood:

"Fugu me!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Haha, ljfw...you beat me to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am
Ken From Hyde Park:

I like the little epilogue to this episode. It's funny 'cause it's true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am
listener james from westwood:

First learned about karaoke thru this ep! Didn't actually perform it until 2016, but this ep clued me in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am
listener james from westwood:

Don't see a fill-in DJ listed on the FMU page for such things. That being the case, I will harvest an archive those two mornings.
This opening guitar reverb hooked me immediately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am
Amanda:

I don't know yet if I will have a fill-in for the weeks I'm away, but I invite you to listen to those archives if I don't!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Grab popcorn for an epic one-hour episode of The Simpsons this Sunday night. Check local listings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am
Amanda:

I heard about it! It's exciting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm
listener james from westwood:

Have a delightful vacation!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm

Nice show. I'm leaving the GPs up. I will no doubt need them today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
