Avatar 12:04pm PKNY:

Yes! "Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved" is harder that 99.99% of the punk rock/metal/hardcore I've ever heard. Eternal thanks to the Funky Drummer, Clyde Stubblefield!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Parq:

Dept. of Mondagreens: When this record first broke on the charts, I thought they were saying "Get embalmed."
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

About as historic, definitive, essential - & broadly influential as anything ever. Clyde Stubblefield, the Funky Drummer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Guido from Cologne:

hello Joe & everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Uncle Michael:

The Honey Drippers track provided the bed for my open!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Parq:

UM, I have been wondering for years where that lick came from.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Uncle Michael:

It's an oft-sampled beat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Parq:

As for Clyde S, there are 1364 confirmed instances of "Funky Drummer" being sampled. Thirteen hundred and sixty four.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Guido from Cologne:

Mike Vickes' "I Wish I Were A Group Again" is worth for exactly two tracks. One is "On the Brink"
Avatar 12:20pm Joe B:

greetings everyone! thanks for tuning in/checking in! Glenn Mercer interview coming up around 1 pm!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Stevel:

UM: I checked to make sure I hadn't hit an archive of one of your shows when I heard The Honey Drippers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Parq:

Hot dogs at a funeral -- what a great idea!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Hoboken Jack:

Just call me Saddle Brook Jack this week! Really looking forward to the Mercer interview.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Uncle Michael:

So did I, Steve.
  12:31pm Dennis Diken:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

BigStar much?? Nice.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Just hot dogs or hot dog sandwiches?
Avatar 12:39pm still b/p:

I wrote a 4th grade essay, titled, I believe, "The Real Monkees," crediting their versatility after I'd seen them playing different instruments live during the summer at Boston Garden. What were they really achieving on those instruments? No idea, but I thought I needed to expand my classmates' presumed Monkees perspectives/expectations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Fuzzy:

Remembering all these lyrics during a live performance would be an impressive feat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Gene Clark worked w/ Monkee record people, no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Michele:

Hi everyone! Sounds great Joe, love this track!
  12:51pm egould310:

Been listening to Jacuzzi Boys alot this week. They are rapidly becoming a favorite band. More please.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Your Ace From Exchange Place:

Avatar 1:00pm KP:

Avatar 1:01pm Nacho:

Hello Joe! Hello everyone! Waiting for Glenn Mercer!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Parq:

I have invented memories all the time, too, Joe. A friend suggests that I invent one where I was Mayor of NYC or some such thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Dave the Spazz:

The 91.1 scene in Broken Flowers is there (you're not going cuckoo). Great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm joe:

And he makes the Ponderosa Stomp save. :)
Avatar 1:06pm Ike:

I just tuned in. Invented memories? Are we talking about that genie movie again?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm psysci:

no Joe couldnt find the scene where 91.1 is on the radio in the movie Broken Flowers and Dave the Spazz confirms it actually exists in a shared invented memory
Avatar 1:19pm KP:

Wowee!
Avatar 👻 1:22pm acid casualty:

@ yafexchangeplace. Joe B. had Holly and the Greenhornes live on his show some years back and they performed that song. I only remember 'cos I got it on a cassette. Check out the archives for the great live set by them.
  1:23pm JakeGould:

Hey! Great interview!

@Ike: Look up “The Mandela Effect.” knowyourmeme.com...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Brian C.:

My invented memory was of seeing Moondog on 6th Avenue. For a long time I thought it was true. I must've dreamt it
Avatar 1:37pm Nacho:

Hey Joe, do you know if there's any chance to see The Feelies down here in a possible South American Tour?
  1:37pm JakeGould:

An invented/non-invented memory I have is of ex-NYC Mayor Abe Beame shaking my baby hand in a baby carriage. I have no direct memory of it since I was a damned baby, but it was told to me so much occasionally a baby me shaking Abe Beame’s hand pops up in my dreams.
Avatar 👻 1:43pm acid casualty:

I just invented a memory of holly on the greenhorns performing on joe's show, but it was actually terre's in 2002.
Avatar 1:48pm Joe B:

yes it was terre's show, and it was eric and jack fro the greenhornes and bruce brand on drums!
  1:49pm Mayor Frank:

Feelies memory: going to an R.E.M. show in Buffalo from Geneva, NY and walking in, late, to this Easter Egg theater and seeing this band thrashing around to a Monkees' tune. Never forget.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Brian C.:

Joe, Thanks for lining up this interview, very nice to hear some backstory and stuff on the Feelies. Looking forward to getting the LP autographed at Vintage Vinyl!
Avatar 1:50pm Nacho:

Or maybe I'll have to invent myself a memory of them... as I did with many other bands...
Avatar 1:51pm northguineahills:

Sounds amazing, Mayor Frank!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Brian C.:

Mayor Frank, do you remember the year/venue for the REM show?
  2:03pm Ken B,:

Nice interview with the Feelies Joe. I commend you for getting Glenn to actually speak.
Avatar 2:06pm Snortley:

The 91.1 scene in Broken Flowers is at 43:45:

Avatar 2:29pm geezerette:

Hey!
I have an invented memory of listening to the Feelies interview even though I just got here. Or maybe it's precognition because I know I WILL listen in the archives.
Avatar 2:30pm geezerette:

Spoooooooooky! :)
  2:31pm George In WO:

I saw Diken/Alstrom do that 2 Guys thing a few years ago at Trumpets in Montclair. It was SO FUN!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm joe:

He just got to 100. I didn't realize he had slowed down so much :)
Avatar 2:52pm geezerette:

This is lovely.
  12:54am John from CDA:

'Alternative memory' would be a more appropriate phrase these days. Like the Honey Drippers said,...
