I don't know who was my gate way DJ. But I do remember that they played The Muffs. I liked The Muffs, but I never heard them on the radio before. So I knew I found home after a LONG search.

90 Geniuses ! Thx man - I frankly weary of hearing WFMU constantly characterized as some 'wacky' conclave of 'weirdoes' - when it is in fact the smartest, most interesting & worthy Source of all that is vital ! !
  11:41am
Listener Robert:

Uh, Carvel? Sure, some of their places only had their iconic soft-serve van & choc, but most advertised "28 flavors", which Baskin-Robbins only slightly exceeded. But it was Howard Johnson who initially strove to break the mold on ice cream flavors. He was actually peeved that most people just asked for vanilla!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am
JohnEBGood:

Is Rand's on Newark Ave. in JC still there? That was the ice cream place in the 70's.

That said, can you guys just keep talking about ice cream for a couple of hours!
