I am very unhappy that my name has been used as a promotion for this show. I often listen to the Michael Shelley Show while I brush my teeth in England. He usually has such fine taste in music. That is just a myth. We British often brush our teeth now.

was Momufuku a deliberate attempt to shatter your previously good recording career?

Ironically, my favorite colour is smoker's teeth yellow.

Are you really banned from SNL for life?
  12:19pm
Elvis Costello:

Momufuku? I would say that I started to suck after Imperial Bedroom. After that, I just stopped caring for awhile. But, you know, a lot of bands at that time started to suck too, so it was just part of that trend at the time.
  12:19pm
Bruce Thomas:

Hi El, I know you despise me, but let's face it, like a listener mentioned above, your music has been boring since you fired me. How's about you dump the jazz singer, get miserable and angry like a proper English chap, and we make some great music again?
  12:20pm
Elvis Costello:

SNL banned me for life. I'm just that cool, I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm

The end of this show will be Elvis saying“I’m sorry, ladies and gentlemen, but there’s no reason to do these calls here"
  12:21pm
Elvis Costello:

Hey Bruce. I know what you're saying but from my point of view, you were a pain in the ass. So, it's true that when you left, I got less angry and miserable.
  12:22pm
lloyd michigan:

I have hangover this morning with a personality.

And by the way, Bruce. No hard feelings here. I went on to make a billion dollars. You're fishing around these lame comments sections looking for handouts.

C'mon, El, if you were so happy with those billions, you wouldn't be spending so much time on the comments board of a community radio station. Wouldn't things be better if you were out getting sloppy drunk and porking every hot new wave piece that came your way, just like in the old days?

"You are all animals and for God's sake act like it"

You're right, Bruce. It's so depressing here in my mansion brushing my teeth in my silk robe, (gifted to me by the President of China after our weekend in the mythical Communist Presidential sex palace). I guess you're happier getting sloppy drunk, but I can afford to have my drugs delivered.

Al… Kahollic… Is there an Al Kahollic in here!

I gotta find our old tapes. We used to call folks and tell them they won a radio station contest. We would get ppl to sing the national anthem.
  12:47pm
Clarke:

yes - the prank where you have to give your number for them to call back could get one into some trouble!
  12:48pm
Bruce Thomas:

Ok, El, stick with your tedious classical and jazz excursions to prove you're a "serious" artist, I'll be playing Motown and Beatles covers at the every crappy working men's club in Barking, Bromley, and Barnet, and be having a much better time.

Back in the day a couple of friends and I were pranking random numbers when we hit an answering machine. We were having a teenage drunken party in my friends basement so we all kept redialing the number and filled up the machine with G-rated stuff like "yeah we're drunk! You should be partying with us!"
Somebody wrote the number down and for years when we were hanging out we would call the same answering machine and let this stranger know we were all toasting them. I always wonder who this person was

Really, Bruce? I thought being 60 and playing in a pub in Barking for shillings meant you were a loser, not a serious artist. I would go look it up in my dictionary, but it's in the library of my mansion and I don't feel like walking down the enormous staircase right now.

Often, as I fly around in my private jet, I look out the window at the streets of Bromley and wonder what it would be like to have to actually, you know, show up to a lame gastropub to play bass for Huey and the Blues cover band and hope they don't notice me stealing the remnants of the pints leftover when the customers leave because they'd rather leave their drinks than listen to your lousy bass playing.

Well, I'm disappointed that EC didn't appear on the show and feel dumb for falling for the prank. And even though I tuned out of the show (not my cup of tea, that happens), I have to give Michael an A+ for concept and execution.

Elvis Costello !!! You!!! Should be buried alive for what You did to Joni Mitchell`s composition, 'Edith and the Kingpin' !!! You did not need a delay device to ruin that recording for life ! I cannot listen to that song anymore without experiencing PTSD ! I hope You are happy with what You did to ruin a soul into a life of of drug addiction and destroying all the work a writer put into a song that did have meaningful lyrics. You actually sang a nightmare and permanently ruined that composition ! It should have been marked with a warning sticker!
