Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Don't expect that here, nice stuff though.

Ahhh, that's more like it. Man, strings and bows can get some amazing sounds.

Okay, got our ducks in row now. I confused my own self with that 1960s jazz too.

This is oddly soothing. I'm also imagining how this bass is being abused.

Cello that is. My band has a bass guy who can get some good
squeeks out of it!

That same night also had Sarah Bernstein's pretty bizarre band Iron Dog which, if I can untangle my messy mix of that, I will post one day.

I saw William Parker at Tonic around 2003 w/ didjeridus, amongst other things.

I saw William Parker w/ Mathew Shipp (Sam Rivers opened) When I saw that show as a sophemore in college, it got me out of my indie ghetto. A rather formative show (in a usually rock venue in FL).

Nice voice, pretty piece.

The Donso Ngoni puts me in mind of those Yaala Yaala records out of Mali I mentioned last week.

weinstein:

Yes, Dean! Ruth followed your lead and listened to that all week. Running over so running out. Thanks all once again.
