Been baking hot for a few days, now changeable to say the least.

A complete loser; someone who just drifts through life bungling everything. Expression was common in the 1940s and best remembered as used by Jackie Gleason as "Ralph Kramden" on the "Honeymooners".

Really would like to see Kevin Morby but like a lot of artists they only seem to play festivals in the Summer. Field Day is a one off but I like small venues. That reminds me must book for John Murry.
Yeah, that's the Devil H for ya. Meat Puppets had Curt's 31 year old son on guitar!

I saw Penn / Oldham show at bklyn' St Ann's church (montague st.); they subbed for a cancelled James Carr, back in the '90s. Lovely show. .-- friend said Meat P at Brooklyn Bowl was indeed great.
@tadpoles: Wow, that line about crows pecking out somebody's eyes is intense! Sounds like an amazing show, wish I could've seen The Only Ones. @Michele: Ha ha ha! I could've said "sluggard" instead.
Ha ha, judy, I hope the Dead was worth it, anyway. I'm more Allmans than Grateful.

great set. i knew a woman named jessica blue who said the allman brothers wrote jessica for her because she talked so much they wanted to write a song with no words and dedicate it to her.
So they share a tune w/ Nico. That Joys track had 'Rain' influence all over it.

Great show, Joe! So nice to be able to listen on a holiday and not have to rush off to work.
btw: I laughed about the Aerosmith/KISS connection. I'm from NEPA and had the same experience c. 1977-79. I was too cool for Frampton but not cool enough (yet) for punk!

There doesn't seem to be a sub culture like the cold 70s and 80s avant garde anymore. I feel like the world misses that.

Also, I was very much a KISS man at the same time as you, Joe. It could not be avoided.

some groups maybe sounded like allmans afterwards but none attained such musical heights, with the two genius guitar players, amazing songwriting and sound, and gregg's vocals
Hey Joe, thanks for a really great show. I've been listening on long drive home this am. Nice selection for Gregg Allman and in regard to that, if you have some time check the web for some interesting background on "These Days" — on the LP notes Browne thanks Gregg for the arrangement, which was a new one and quite different from the song's first recording by Nico.
Hi, Joe. Nice little Gregg set. I really haven't been a Brothers fan for a long time,. and pretty much the only thing of theirs that I can get worked up about is the Fillmore take of "Elizabeth Reed". But Gregg's been a part of the scene -- a part of my life, really -- for so long that I can't help but be affected by his death.
