We're having a monsoon here. We're underwater on dry land,
Avatar 12:29pm

I just returned from the ocean, and apparently it's been way over 100 degrees here, and continuing. SPF 10k.

Ohhhh a monsoon..... That is not fun....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm

Man, I am such not a summer person. I can't take the heat (though I like to cook, so I'm not staying out of the kitchen!)
Avatar 12:35pm
northguineahills:

@geezerette: That's what happened down here on Sunday. 4.8 in/122mm of rain in less then three hours. House was surrounded by water and the water got to w/in a foot of my boxes in storage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Uncle Michael:

arrived just in time to catch the last minute or so of Prins Thomas - hi everyone!
Avatar 12:39pm
geezerette:

NGH, but that's more nearly normal in Florida. Not the flooding! But hot, wet summers.
Here it's usually about 20 percent humidity, not 70 percent!

Like this version!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
Meghan:

Here to fill those voids for you Uncle Michael! (I hadn't either until recently!)
Avatar 12:42pm
geezerette:

Meghan, as long as there's a fan and cold drinks in that kitchen!

Haha, Glimmers sound like they need physicals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Meghan:

I'll tell my nightmare I had the other night.... It was directly related to the heat. ha!
Avatar 12:52pm
northguineahills:

When we got hit by Hurricane Mathew, we got under 4 inches of rain in 8 hours. But yes, 80% to 95% relative humidity w/ temps in the high 90sF/high 30sC is the norm. It's why I hate summers here.
Avatar 12:55pm

Winters are gorgeous though, or used to be. Still?

I approve of this song specifically and the concept of cocaine cats in general.

Winters are only sufferable for retirees, I miss the changing of seasons, I miss sweater weather, I miss snow. It might get down to near freezing once or twice a winter.

Growing up we had some big industrial fan that went in the upstairs hall window.

That thing was like a Sopwith Camel's engine.

We had the big attic fan setup too. Engineer stepdad and former pilot uncle engineered it to pull a breeze thru the whole house

I grew up near the beach in Brooklyn so it was always about 10 degrees cooler. When I moved into my own places I couldn’t deal with the heat. Now I am in the top floor of a building that is sun soaked in the heat way. I come home to an oven most days during the summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
Meghan:

It's the worst! I hate sweating just sitting there..... not doing anything! That is just unfair to me! My poor pup!
Avatar 1:10pm
Dave B:

I'm with ya there Jake. I have my top floor AC on a timer just to avoid that...

Afternoon, all! I managed to see Tom Tom Club a few years back. Really fun show, but overshadowed by the drunk guy next to us who managed to messily crack his head open on the stage during the encore.

its all fun and games until someone gets hurt...
Avatar 1:14pm

after that its fuckin hilarious!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm
Meghan:

Ugh, why is there always that one person who loves ruining shows by being.... well, that guy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm
The Oscar:

I do find it amusing that, the same summer, I saw Danzig, Deadbolt, and Public Image Ltd, and the most violent show wound up being the Tom Tom Club.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm
Passaic River Blues:

Loving this set.
  1:18pm
JakeGould:

What about band groupies who blow bubbles on stage when they get to the side of the stage? I’ve seen that more than once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
drr:

The Oscar: was the drunk guy...Oscar? You'd probably need to be in NYC for that to ring a bell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
Meghan:

Oh, I haven't seen that one! I guess I have something to look forward to! ha!

Passaic River- I knew this set was killer when I started to pull the songs. It was exactly what I wanted to hear!
Avatar 1:20pm

My first summer in NYC, I thought I could survive w/o A/C. It topped 100 for a whole week and my computer got fried. I bought an A/C for the next summer.

  1:21pm
JakeGould:

The funny thing is these ladies (Manic Pixie Dream Girls?) bring a small bottle of bubbles and can barely blow any out on stage… But they stand there and do that. It doesn’t physically ruin the show, but man… It is just sad.
Avatar 1:22pm
Dave B:

@Jake - who's Bubbles? The trim co-ordinator?
  1:23pm
JakeGould:

Look, there are now bubble guns and bubble swords out there. Just saying.

  1:27pm

@geezerette: Nope. These are young gals. Dare I say hipsters? Maybe you can get them off stage by saying, “Hey! Etsy is down!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
The Oscar:

@drr Nah, this was in Boston, at the Paradise. Poor dude had to be taken to an ambulance without hearing the Talking Heads numbers they closed with.

Or maybe, “Venmo crashed.”
Avatar 1:29pm

Ha, everyone's the star of they're own private reality show now, or an imaginary youtube celebrity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
The Oscar:

@JakeGould I saw some mid-'00s indie band do an in-store performance, and there was a row of late-twentysomethings sitting in the front row with hand puppets. It was legitimately unsettling.
Avatar 1:30pm
geezerette:

their... (must wake up!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm
Meghan:

Ahhhhh, yes, the Paradise. I have had many a show "ruined" there. Like all of the 90's when everyone thought you should slam dance or stage dive to EVERY POSSIBLE BAND.
Avatar 1:32pm
geezerette:

Haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm
The Oscar:

@Meghan The PiL show I saw that same year had a good amount of assholes who clearly REALLY wanted it to be a Sex Pistols show. Lydon actually had a guy ejected for gobbing onstage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
The Oscar:

Boston was PANDEMONIUM that night. Having lived up here my whole life, it's honestly hard to imagine a place where any large gathering doesn't eventually devolve into a "Yankees suck" chant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm
Meghan:

Ha! Last time I saw PIL was at Great Woods (which became Tweeter Center and now who knows!) with Sugarcubes and New Order! Noone gobbed at that show, thankfully!
Avatar 1:45pm

Off to lunch, thanks Meghan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm
Meghan:

enjoy lunch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm
The Oscar:

You know, I'm not actually sure what they're calling it now. It was the Tweeter Center when I saw The Who there, the day they announced Entwistle's cause of death (he'd been alive when I bought the ticket!).
Avatar 1:49pm
Dave B:

good stuff. Back to the salt mines!
Avatar 1:56pm
Ike:

For some reason, the phrase "he'd been alive when I bought the ticket!" is making me laugh. I'm a sicko! LOL.

Thanks Meghan. And *I* always find Baltimore inspiring, so hopefully you will too.
