June 1, 2003: If it doesn't stop raining soon, I'm going to do something dreadful to the next person who walks in the room

Artist Track Album Comments New
The rain is not only making me edgy, it's making me a nasty, mean-spirited, petty enthusiast of awful things like repetitious cleaning and trash television because it seems I'm perpetually trapped in the house. Why, just this last Thursday, I snapped at Liz, who alternates with Debbie as the host of the Joe Frank Program. Do you know Liz? She's like the nicest person in the world and I threw a styrofoam dish with wet macaroni at the wall and screamed that it was her fault I can't get a tan.
Whatever. I'm getting out of the city today -- retreating back to my suburban origins with a friend, and will probably end up in a dimly lit college-town bar and grill, splitting a pitcher of bad beer, and having a grim discussion about the state of the world. It is these poetic moments that I will indeed look back on fondly after I'm enslaved by the government to stir huge pots of gravy for the fatcats in the afterlife...

Dream Warriors  Journey On   An Now the Legacy Begins
Ghost  Guru in the Echo   7"
Hawkwind  Assault & Battery Part 1   Warrior on the Edge of Time  The WFMU studios were temporarily over run by wizards and juggling Leprauchauns when I played this song. 4 minutes later, they vanished as promptly as they'd appeared. Remember when you were a warrior on the edge of time? Me neither...

Cobra Killer  Heavy Rotation   Heavy Rotation 10"    *
Soul Junk  Quite Alright Rockers   1953  It was brought to my attention by a listener that today is Ascension Sunday in the Catholic Church, making the Jesus references in this song all the more appropriate, I imagine.

Fakts One  Life Music   12"    *
Iggy Pop  Girls   New Values  Not to dwell on this Iggy & the Stooges reunion too much (see last week's show) but aren't there enough bands that sound like the Stooges now anyway? I'd be more excited to hear Iggy do stuff off this record because NO ONE can be as deliciously sleazy as he is here... Just a thought.
Felix da Housecat  Silver Screen Shower Scene   City Rockers Singles 1-23 2xCD    *
Go Home Productions  Ultrathin   MP3  See last week's playlist for the link to the Go Home Productions download site. I'm suddenly feeling lazy.  *
Northern State  At the Party   Dying in Stereo  There's a slim possibility I may have just fallen madly in love with Northern State's Hesta Prynn. Will report back to you next week with lab results.  *
Com.A  Digital Ass Mix   split 7" w/ Kid 606

Questions to ponder while listening to this week's archive:
  1. As you travel further back in time, do you get hungrier?
  2. Do you think it's appropriate to cook lunch? (As opposed to merely 'preparing' it.)
  3. How do you feel about people who rehearse plays or forms of popular music in public parks? Personally, I think they should be sent to live on another planet. Their whimsical approach to life is making my rent go up.
