I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Good afternoon Mayuko and listeners. I'm still hearing Indian music. WFMU has a long and proud tradition of technical difficulties
Avatar 12:07pm
Mayuko:

Should sound more like someone groaning than Indian, as usual for my show.

If not Indian, Persian - now Dixie

We want Groans not Fun! When do we want it? Now! That "we" may be overstating things, though. Read "I" instead

Hey there — are you able to buzz me in?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm

@coel: I find Mayuko's show uplifting. Then again, at work they had people give emotional labels to songs, and they didn't agree. But what one rated "sexy" correlated very strongly to what another rated "bizarre"

- even when some tracks are dark, which i don't think is that much of the time...dark can work toward uplifting in context.

I saw two show a long long time ago; One was about fascism and the other about birth! No stage : the comedians, singers, musicians were among the audience with their terrifying props, running in the crowd with chainsaws (without the chain but still the noise)!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm
coelacanth∅:

fred (@1.09 again) that different people would call the same music either sexy or bizarre doesn't surprise me. some people are so uncomfortable with sexiness that it's bizarre to them; and even more so when it's in public or amongst others.
... i wouldn't like that job much. i have a tough time labeling music in general; sometimes i find it impossible.

It's a collective of musicians mixing traditional and experimental music: www.la-novia.fr Yann Gourdon (hurdy-gurdy hero) is a member
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm

I didn't see it, but it sounds bizarrely stupid and retrograde that the offensive Prince "hologram" wasn't even actually a hologram, just a dopey projection. It's like all those things that were fake-ass "VR" in the late 90s.

@Rickwaukee ugh! no one should be enlarged more than 10 ft!

I don’t understand why people come to NYC to go to a wax museum.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm

I read Prince was strongly opposed to holograms, so I can respect that Timberlake and his lawyers moved from that stunt. He should have switched to a hologram of Mark E Smith instead, now that would have been fun
  2:16pm

I think holograms are pretty advanced right now - at Super Bowl they were trying to distance themselves from all the lead-up negative hype bc Prince had shat on the idea of hologram duets
