Daniel: Great outdoor show w/other bands (Spahn Ranch/et) on green at Carnegie Mellon U. Pittsburgh, summer '88 or '89; LA punk-noise-cum-tribal-psychedelia maybe how they were?

There's a great live version of 'Procession' on double album 'Live Trek 1986' --recording quality low but performance mesmerizing.

@AW: You mean Stalker. It certainly wasn't that, by a long shot. However, I wholeheartedly encourage you to read the entire Southern Reach trilogy if you're inclined to do so.

Contrarian (but genuine) opinion: This movie is hugely overrated. None of the humans are interesting. Who gives a shit if HAL 9000 kills them? Pauline Kael was right.

My friend who hates 2001 'accidently' went to the anniversary release at the theatre, and sat through the whole thing because he wasn't going to walk out of a movie.

@cklequ: When “The Phantom Menace” came out a friend of mine went to the first show on opening day dressed in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” gear and when the movie started he shouted, “I thought this was Star Trek!”

  11:24pm
JakeGould:

@Ike: Well, he wanted to see the film. But you know, a ST: NG outfit is pretty simple to pull off once you get the tunic. The rest is just black pants and shoes.
  11:26pm
JakeGould:

Oh, for anyone who is planning on going to the Loews Jersey City “King Kong” thing, here is something I discovred: There is a HUGE world of old guys who bring their children or nephews/nieces to see “King Kong.” I went to a screening at the Film Forum once and it was stunning to be in a theater where—I am serious—tons of men were genuinely crying at the end of that film. Not joking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
melinda:

@Andrew that often happens to me, I think it's Suspiria night and then it's something else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
Andrew Waterloo:

I always liked how characters on Star Trek wore the fanciest pajamas you could possibly dream of, or they slept in their uniform (and makeup)

Could you sneak into my place and cut my hair, Andrew? I usually do it myself, but i've been procrastinating. It's getting out of control. I'll leave a generous tip on the nightstand.

@Jake: It's the 24th century. Surely they have hair-and-makeup nanites or something that can handle that stuff for you while you sleep. If humanity hasn't made it that far by then, what's the point?
  11:36pm
JakeGould:

@DanielBlumin: HEY I DIDN’T SAY MEN CRYING BECAUSE OF SOCIETIES LIES AND MANIPULATIONS WAS A BAD THING!!!

Also, if Donald Trump was there at the end of that film he would have said, “LIES! It wasn’t beauty! It was the planes that killed the beast!!! FAKE NEWS!”
