On a backpack trip, sharing by chance a shelter area with troubled and school-exile teens and their very young adult mentors, I was the one in our group requesting that a teen stop hacking at trees in the immediate area. Later overheard him in his tent speaking of me to his mentor, “I should have shoved that machete up his ass.” Interesting arrangement, too — male sharing small tent with “adult” female just about 4 or 5 years older than him.
