I'd rather have a Polaris sub than Electronic Man.

listener james from westwood:

Good Tuesday, Tony and all! Listening from Atlantic City!
Avatar 12:01pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, βrian!

I can only imagine how disappointed kids were when electronic man arrived in the mail and turned out to be nothing but a cardboard box.
Avatar 12:02pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, hey, James!
Avatar 12:03pm
Tony Coulter:

@ James: I fist saw your comment from inside the accuplaylist, where the ends of comments get cut off. Looked like you wrote "Listening from Atlantis" ... which would have been nice.
  12:04pm
Dean:

The latest neo-prog tune by a buddy of mine who composes the lyrics in a language he contstructed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuYmkZ-Aomo I'm hearing a bit of Happy the Man here. The first few minutes are instrumental: apt bed music, perhaps?

Hello! In the old days kids had a lot of fun with just a cardboard box.
Avatar 12:05pm

I saw a band this weekend in town who reminded me of Pylon a bit, soundwise. The Mod Pods.

Heh, "Arkansas Man" happens to be the name of a tune by Zeke. One of their better ones, too.

10 Murray Street is now Muscle Maker Grill.
Avatar 12:11pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Dean: Ha! Seems appropriate.
Avatar 12:16pm
Tony Coulter:

Hard to believe based on what I'm playing now, I know, but I will be getting a bit funkay later in the show.
Avatar 12:16pm
Tony Coulter:

Plus, there will be a basement records segment in the final hour.
Avatar 12:29pm

... and a final exam.

Get out your no. 2 pencils, write your name in the top left-hand corner of a piece of ruled paper.

There's a UPS store right next door, so you'll have your Electronic Man within days.
  12:34pm

Judging from my latest experience with UPS, no you won't.

just listened to le sacre du printemps an hour ago. (coincidence as this is so heavily indebted by that, though not properly credited)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm

(...or is it credited?)
Avatar 12:53pm
Tony Coulter:

Nope. Sacre Bleu!
  12:54pm

Whose Sacre? Conductor/orchestra, I mean.
Avatar 12:55pm

My favorite version is the one Lawrence Welk did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
coelacanth∅:

um...will have to check that out. ...?
  12:58pm

Don't know Welk's Stravinsky, but I love his arrangements of Weasels Ripped My Flesh.
Avatar 12:59pm
Tony Coulter:

This Koechlin piece on now was composed only six years after the Rite of Spring, and sounds just as modern/forward-looking in its own way. Harmonically, at least.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm
coelacanth∅:

it flowed right through, seamlessly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
coelacanth∅:

- and speaking of ups (pronounced "OOPS"), i advise all who buy via ebay and such, to make sure, even if you must pay the extra couple bucks yourself, that the seller insures it and that it won't be delivered without a signature. in their profound wisdom, the assholes of ups, if the package disappears, is to refund the seller, then the seller might refund the buyer; or might not.

Lefdup & Lefdup were in charge of the intro soundtrack of a crazy french TV show during the nineties. They composed a new piece for each episode. Archived here : vimeo.com...

Avatar 1:24pm

"DiD they"?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:30pm

It was more like a festive jam session with their friends. And their was no special visuals. I am not sure if they are really at ease on stage (one of the two brothers has a physical disability and has to use a wheelchair.) Sounds sad but it was fun!
