	12:14am Dean: Nothinge. Must confess I'm a selective fan of both Eno and Talking Heads. I like one Eno tune on Before and After Science, "Here He Comes," and TH's first single, "Love Goes to a Building on Fire." Nothing much else from either.

	12:24am Scraps: When I was a teenager, More Songs About Buildings and Food, Here Come the Warm Jets, and Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) all served as my number one favorite rock album. (Still high up there.)

	12:27am Dean: At that time, my favorite albums included DAMNED DAMNED DAMNED, Selling England by the Pound, and Dances of the Renaissance by Musica Aurea.
	12:28am Andrew S: no love for '77 coel? Im with you where they dropped off, but not as much for me, i liked all their albums but the later ones not through and through, but there were standout tracks on all of them

	12:35am Dean: I'm not a big Zappa fan, either, but I loved visiting a friend in Connecticut every year around Memorial Day, when a local publicly supported station traditionally devoted the morning to Zappa. What a great show!

	12:52am Dean: Fave bootleg might be As Though Emerald City, a mix of Genesis's shows at the Shrine '75 and a scarce single from the time featuring "Twilight Alehouse." Buena Park, CA, used to be the home of a marvelous bootleg storehouse, Beggars Banquet Records. Springsteen sued them. Jerk.

Some guy, the story goes, brought him a bootleg record to sign, and Neil was in a good mood and actually signed the thing....

	12:57am coelacanth∅: i bought a pink floyd bootleg when i was a teenager. it sounded like it was recorded from the mens' room but it was early workings of what was to become "animals" and some of the songs were very different, though i could tell which songs they each were to become. very interesting. one of my sister's first boyfriends stole it.

	12:59am Andrew S: italy had differnet copyright laws so even good labels like get back or akarma a lot of the stuff was dubious as far as if anyone got paid

	1:02am Dean: At one time I had more bootlegs of Todd Rundgren (Utopia), ELO, and the Beatles, than of their legit records. Not that I collected any of them extensively, but I preferred the grittiness. What's with these musicians?! They bitch about something of theirs being stolen, but even bootleggers have to work to produce their product.

	1:16am jj.: to me, even in the '90s, bootlegs were always more about tapes you traded with other people than illicit CDs/LPs you bought in stores, though that's probably my dead freak origins showing through.
	1:19am coelacanth∅: i know what you mean Jesse, and i've made many bootlegs in that sense. 'different than pressing them up in large volumes for sale to the masses.
	1:20am Dean: In the '90s rock bootlegs began moving online. During the '70s and '80s there were plenty of stores that stocked them. Heck, Middle Earth in Downey, CA, was one hub of the network, the home of Amazing Korneyfone. It was great fun, because you'd buy the official releases, then find the oddball live shows. (Unless, like me and Rundgren and ELO, you only bought the bootleg!)

	1:21am rw: Only semi related but I saw a rock video on YouTube recently whose ideas and technique were clearly lifted from a friend of mine. When I showed her the video she said, "It's cute. It's nice to have fans". I thought that was a nice response.

'don't know which band that is.

(like if you played "cold rain and snow" in their style, it's pretty unmistakably the 'dead's arrangement.

	12:52am Dean: Fave bootleg might be As Though Emerald City, a mix of Genesis's shows at the Shrine '75 and a scarce single from the time featuring "Twilight Alehouse." Buena Park, CA, used to be the home of a marvelous bootleg storehouse, Beggars Banquet Records. Springsteen sued them. Jerk.

	1:20am Dean: In the '90s rock bootlegs began moving online. During the '70s and '80s there were plenty of stores that stocked them. Heck, Middle Earth in Downey, CA, was one hub of the network, the home of Amazing Korneyfone. It was great fun, because you'd buy the official releases, then find the oddball live shows. (Unless, like me and Rundgren and ELO, you only bought the bootleg!)
