i've seen some "unknown" ensembles which included some fairly well-known "sidemen", right in town in a little club - which is my preferred way.
i was checking to see if David Ware was playing out in this country when i found out he'd died.. ...which really sucked because i knew him, but we hadn't communicated in a few years and i'd hoped to surprise him by showing up at a gig.

I have long believed the norm should be unisex bathrooms. I've never quite understood why we divide ourselves, though I understand the risk of harassment and violence. But I think that risk is a function of segregation. If we'd never separated ourselves, we wouldn't be in this situation.

My junior high had no doors on most bathroom stalls. Not kind to young adolescents.
A local art center went unisex bathroom several years ago but I never encountered men in the restroom formerly known as the women's room. But I haven't been there in a while.

i was at a club in nyc when the bathrooms were out of order and we were directed through a maze of stairway and halls ,through a (closed) restaurant downstairs to a bathroom. i was at a urinal and someone was in the stall. then she came out! we both had a good laugh! neither of us knew it was for both sexes.

Many years ago I went to a professional science fiction party, and I got introduced to Tom Disch (Thomas M. Disch). I said I admired his work (which was very true). Disch said he wanted to know what I thought was the worst thing about his wtiting. I was surprised, but I thought about it and answered it seriously. We then had a very cordial conversation about his faults.
