Ever notice the similarity between that & the incidental music to the Batman TV show?

The only team sports are the ones from my alma mater (so, college), and for pro sports professional, association football (soccer), but mostly Olympic sports (winter and summer).

Who is the Jeanie referenced in the Redd Kross song?

hi Therese and friends. rarely get to listen live but I always catch the archive. always a wonderful show.
  10:50pm
Christopher Clabbers:

Therese, great to hear you. Woke up early to Carol, watched Manchester United (soccer) at 9am, watched a mediocre Jude Law movie (Black Sea), napped, went to gym, went to a Oscar party and now listening to you! see, it can be done!
Avatar 10:52pm
Therese:

Excellent time management, Christopher! I'm happy to report that I woke up enough to catch a bit of Carol's show myself.

Good ol’ Shel.
Avatar 10:57pm

@Christopher: I did the same, I usually watch soccer on mute early on the weekend morns on mute, and either listen to history/philosophy/linguistic podcast, or WFMU.

I know I'm in the minority but i really enjoy the nascar race every Sunday. not thought of as a thinking person's sport but the engineering, business, and athletics side gets way overlooked

Thank you, @twinoak170!

putting raw peanuts to boil in the slow cooker for 24 hours, w/ ghost peppers, poblanos, raw garlic, shrimp boil, and Cajun boil, and salt, rather simple. Should be ready by tomorrow night!

Phillippe- my sister and her family moved to Virginia about 10 years ago and they have been trying to get me to go to a NASCAR race with them ever since.

Avatar 11:16pm
northguineahills:

@phillipe: I'm not usually into nascar (but I do like races that are not on oval tracks), but I usually watch the Daytona 500 (for some odd reason w/ my bio family), it's fun! I used to go to the figure 8 school bus races in Long Island, which was always interesting.

(but I'm the thinking-non-thinking man...)

I heard Joe Frank’s “Green Cadillac” on fmu driving home the other day, I didn’t want it to end.

it's cool when they crank up the engines. i grew up watching nascar, going to a few races in atlanta w/ my folks. but when earnhardt died my parents pretty much turned off the TV for good; that was their man.
Avatar 11:23pm
Hams:

they haven't paid attention to nascar since.. my niece went to a race the other week.
Avatar 11:24pm
Hams:

whoa, there's school bus racing in long island?
  11:24pm
phillippe bastille:

@therese it's a great experience. Richmond has a great track that has a lot of opportunities for good side by side racing. if they are on the martinsville side of the state, great short track. fan experience and athlete access blows away most sports
Avatar 11:25pm
Therese:

Is that the South Side Speedway?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

About a year after Dale Earnhart went, I saw a car here with NASCAR #3 specialty plates reading "SOOO SAD." They must have really taken it hard.
  11:31pm
phillippe bastille:

@hams I hear ya. dale jr, Gordon and Stewart all retiring took away most of the old audience. I think its amazing how the teams can figure out how to adjust a car from unloading to the last 10 laps on sunday to make it competitive
  11:32pm
phillippe bastille:

I am not familiar with the south side track. what part of va are they in?
Avatar 11:34pm
Therese:

They're in the Richmond area.
Avatar 11:35pm
Hams:

yeah, i'm surprised they didn't retire the #3 after such a thing.

some amazingly fit athletes as well. Landon Cassel did a half iron man on a Saturday morning to qualify for the world championship, then drove the 600 mile race that night
Avatar 11:39pm

nascar blew up there for a minute a few years back or so. but supposedly now they can't fill up the extra seats.
Avatar 11:40pm
Hams:

there should absolutely be a WFMU car, just don't know who would drive it.
  11:40pm
phillippe bastille:

@therese ah. looked it up. short track in Midlothian. that would be a fun place to go.
  11:41pm
phillippe bastille:

they started taking out seats so they dont look pathetic. still sold 100k seats for Daytona tho.
Avatar 11:41pm

Thanks, Therese, I got to get getting, got some interviews tomorrow. Cheer y OOOs!
  11:47pm

one last nascar pimping: former driver Geoff Bodine designs and builds Olympic bobsleds. three US Olympic medals were won in his builds
Avatar 11:47pm

ah, i guess daytona should always have a good turnout.
