I have been listening a lot over the last week and I have noticed something strange. DJs are giving money to each other, and then back again. Are these phantom transactions? How do we know who owes who what favors? Transactions that offset each other can result in “loops” that put us at risk of another financial crisis. Also, most critically: they seem to be giving each other priceless publicity squibs each time this happens. I’m trying to make a log of this but I’m only one person. #followthemoneyfmu. Also, what about the disproportionate influence on the media of Yo La Tengo?
