	11:00am Kudubundu: @ben abs Its all legal. Low power FM transmitters are freely available and legal to use across the entire FM broadcast band as long as you can find a free frequency. I would use an WFMU frequency BUT they are all BBC channels around here. I guess my FM signal goes a few blocks down the street so anyone cane tune in .... I hope!

	11:32am Kudubundu: @steveo I simply feed the transmitter using a standard stereo jack from a Pc,tablet or a spare smartphone. I tend to leave it on 24 hours so that I can listen in anytime just like any other radio station! I place the kit high in the loft. The 3 metre audio lead also acts as an aerial and improves the signal strength.

	11:43am randyfrommichigan: @Steveo my son made a LP radio transmitter using his Raspberry Pi, so that's another option
	11:44am Ike: @Kudubundu, in NJ & NYC there are folks who do the same thing, but rebroadcasting stations from Haiti, Grenada, Jamaica, etc. (and once or twice I heard a neo-Nazi one), illegally with thousands of watts, sometimes causing interference w/WFMU and other stations, so that blows goats. Below a certain level it's totally legal though, but the legal ones (off the shelf in regular electronics stores, so you can broadcast from, say, the trunk of your car to the rest of your car) are quite weak and only reach a few feet.
	11:44am Kudubundu: @ben abs Simple old school analog tech. Reliable and effective. My only nod to modern tech is that I can control the smartphone remotely if I need to.
	11:47am Kudubundu: @ike. This is also a very weak transmitter. Very. The transmitter is designed to be used with mp3 players etc.

	11:32am Kudubundu: @steveo I simply feed the transmitter using a standard stereo jack from a Pc,tablet or a spare smartphone. I tend to leave it on 24 hours so that I can listen in anytime just like any other radio station! I place the kit high in the loft. The 3 metre audio lead also acts as an aerial and improves the signal strength.

	11:44am Ike: @Kudubundu, in NJ & NYC there are folks who do the same thing, but rebroadcasting stations from Haiti, Grenada, Jamaica, etc. (and once or twice I heard a neo-Nazi one), illegally with thousands of watts, sometimes causing interference w/WFMU and other stations, so that blows goats. Below a certain level it's totally legal though, but the legal ones (off the shelf in regular electronics stores, so you can broadcast from, say, the trunk of your car to the rest of your car) are quite weak and only reach a few feet.
