If I'd been in charge and had to answer why criticism of Facebook was deleted from Facebook, I'd've answered, "Because we're not idiots! If you want to criticize us, don't expect to be able to use our own facilities to do so. Criticize anything else, but not the home team using the home team's field. Go somewhere else to criticize Facebook. Come back here to criticize THEM."
  6:25pm
Johnzon:

yup. its gonna keep happening. it's not just tech tho... I believe there have been studies that show that the biggest factor correlated to violence is inequality. regulating big tech would be helpful but it would still be treating a symptom rather than the underlying disease(capitalism at least in it's current incarnation... or maybe feudalism is more accurate at this point. oligarchy... yea lets go with that.)

Neal, there are many whistleblowers in us intelligence/law enforcement who have pointed to a culture of intentional negligence pervasive in intelligence/law enforcement prior to 9-11. to mark's question of who profits? yes of course big tech profits but so does the military industrial intelligence complex. they don't want terrorism to stop... if they did they'd use more traditional law enforcement methods, detective work, work with banks etc. to cut off the terrorists funding... and of course use tech to find would be violent radicals earlier.

The Refinement is the Unnatural part.
It's an interesting analogy to Corporate Tech!
Something Corporations exploit in our Evolution. It's built in we want it - but the unending supply of isolated elements out of balance are not what our organism was built for or where we come from as a species...

Hello Mark. Interesting with Tom Watson, he has been making some comments that could be seen to undermine the leader Jeremy Corbyn. But being politics it is not overt. The Labour Party seems to thrive on backbiting and attention to procedural detail.

Today’s Daily podcast suggests big tech profits off of people’s attention to their platform. So YouTube suggesting more videos you’ll watch gives them More data and ad revenue.
When viewers watching marginal white-supremacist-conspiratorial content it suggest more of it, further radicalizing people.
Too bad viewers weren’t watching videos about caring and sharing...then we’d have more ...
