I like the groovy flip of Joe Dodo. Hi Kris, hi everyone.

Matt from New Orleans:

Kris I heard a interesting cover of cissy strut from a Mexican rock band from the late 60s called Siglo XXI renamed cocinero loco probably to avoid royalties. They released an album that appears to be all renamed covers. Are you familiar with them or seen the album or 45s?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm
Little Danny:

Hi Kris, hi peeps
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm
Matt from New Orleans:

The album is named Tu y el parque which is the title track and who’ll stop the rain by CCR

Little Danny:

Cool mod blues groove here. New to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Two of the singles are on discogs but no copies for sale under conjunto siglo XXI on the discos dominante label might be worth keeping an eye out for
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm
Franco Twinkie:

Kris! IA all the way!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm
Little Danny:

OMG Kris you are going there

Classic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm

Let us all put on the diamond shaped shades.

Conjunto Siglo XXI sounds fascinating
  10:41pm
Dean:

Ah, yes, Honey Cone, making the charts in the years before Trump.
Avatar 10:42pm
Kris Holmes:

a classic
  10:43pm
Dean:

Absolutely. A formative R&B/soul tune in my whitebread suburban youth experience of popular music.
  10:46pm
Dean:

Shoot, I'm a librarian and *I* don't know The Alphabetical Order.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I heard cocinero loco on a mix from diggers dozen on mixcloud and I was listening in the background and I heard cissy strut come on but when I opened the app it said cocinero loco and I was like WTF. I listened for a few more seconds and was like this definitely cissy strut not crazy cook so I started digging online and found a page in Spanish dedicated to Mexican rock of the 60s/70s that I google translated just to make sure I was understanding correctly. I found the album for sale on a random website for a polish record store for the equivalent of less than $3.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I didn’t buy it as navigating the page in polish was too much
Avatar 10:49pm
Kris Holmes:

i'm definitely gonna look into it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Franco Twinkie:

The Bubble Puppy is the only 45 I own on IA. But then, It takes 3 day to drive to Texas from here. You guys are far, far away.
Avatar 10:51pm
Kris Holmes:

probably the biggest national hit on the label
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
Matt from New Orleans:

rockenmexico2.tripod.com...
That’s the Mexican rock website in Spanish but it covers bands from all over Mexico by region.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
Little Danny:

Man, "Tighten Up" is eternal, but Archie Bell was so much more, too
Avatar 10:59pm
Kris Holmes:

yeah, i picked this one up because I thought it was a typo & they'd spelled Tighten Up wrong on the label but it's actually a whole other song. Who knew?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
Franco Twinkie:

I will hazard a guess that Donna Jean Godchuax is one of the great oooooh ooooohs behind Percy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
Franco Twinkie:

I went to Lovells the day before, and Poo Bah the day after. But on the Saturday the 13th I stayed home.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm

Okay, good one's from that period. Saw the 73-74 MOI a lot.
Avatar 11:12pm
Kris Holmes:

I still love Apostrophe
  11:12pm
Dean:

Nice. I haven't been there in decades, though I've strolled by. Used to be a regular hangout. Next time I'm down I might have to drop by. I bet even now Tom will remember me, certainly the crew I hung with.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm
Franco Twinkie:

I asked the guy at the counter if he knew you. He's been there since the 00's. After your time, I guess.
  11:18pm
Dean:

Yeah, mostly. Tom's an older, lanky guy. And he might need to see me to remember me.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
Franco Twinkie:

I need this! I think, but I'm not totally sure I saw James Booker when he was in Dr. John's band.(1975)
Avatar 11:30pm
Kris Holmes:

NGH, is my show too loud??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Not at all
  11:30pm

If it’s too loud, you’re too old.
  11:31pm
Carmichael:

But seriously, the Drummer stream is louder than the FMU feed.
Avatar 11:32pm
Kris Holmes:

ok, so long as it doesn't sound distorted
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm
