Hey, Tony and all! Getting fancy on that Club of Rome card with the long s symbol, eh?

Heya, Jameß!!

Tony Coulter:

Can anyone ID today's record under the covers? Here's a clue: The band was a new wave/post-punk/art punk band from San Francisco
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
Sem:

Hiss everybody happy?
Hiya, Tony, LJfW. Can't wait!
  12:04pm
Dean:

The cover is familiar, but I was thinking UK new wave/post-punk...

Hello tapeworms friends!
Avatar 12:07pm
Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Yvang!

Tony Coulter:

OK: here's another clue about today's mystery record. The band was named after a then-popular Christian talk show. (That's almost giving it away!)

northguineahills:

I once drove w/ friends 6 hours to Atlanta to see Asmus Tiechens to witness a kinetic/sound sculpture in a coffee house. We were about a third of the audience (two cars)
  12:11pm
Dean:

700 Club...which I actually don't know as a band.
Avatar 12:11pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya, NGH! Two cars? Was it a drive-in coffee-to-go kind of place? Sound intriguing!
Avatar 12:12pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Dean: Right you are! It's this thing: www.discogs.com...
  12:12pm
Dean:

Still, cover's familiar. It's a 45rpm EP?

The tape, she hiss. Hello Tony and everyone else!
Avatar 12:24pm
Tony Coulter:

This is one of those annoying tapes that doesn't say it's been dolby-ized, but seems to have been anyway. Right or wrong, I went with dolby B .

Greetingssssss, Cmurtha!

Hi Tony, hi everyone!
Avatar 12:35pm
Tony Coulter:

Oops: forgot to mention that this side gets warbly/mangly at the beginning and end -- but only very briefly. And it could possibly be intentional (??)

Hiya, JtotheK!

This is good music for making psychedelic fork postcards!
Avatar 1:13pm
Tony Coulter:

Gen! Ken! Hiya!
  1:15pm
gen ken:

did you know that Asmus Tietchen's father was an officer in the same trans-Atlantic ship where Conrad Schnitzler was working in the coal room when he was a young man? True.
Avatar 1:18pm
Tony Coulter:

Really! Amazing!

Folks: Gen Ken (Montgomery) was a collaborator of Schniztler's, and released the tape we'll be hearing next. He's also a big friend of FMU.
Avatar 1:18pm
Tony Coulter:

And a master maker of fork-themed postcards.

Farcebook strikes again, ha! Mark Hurst has warned us all, yet some of us can’t give up the addiction... though I’ve curtailed my use significantly.

I guess in a way this is sort of like quad....
  2:09pm
Dean:

Why not combine this approach, Tony, with last week's whole side of an album theme? Play the whole sides of two albums at once. Even the same album, but on two turntables.
Avatar 2:11pm
Tony Coulter:

Well, that might work if one turntable was pinned all the way to the left channel, and the other all the way to the right.
Avatar 2:12pm
Tony Coulter:

(If I was playing two copies of the same album, I mean.)
  2:20pm
Dean:

Even with the channels blended, the results could be fun. Kinda like my buddy's treatment of Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" synch'ing multiple playbacks of the same record with eccentric spindle holes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CCB59CTZmM
  2:23pm
Dean:

For that matter, I could open up a second pop-up player and stream two Tape Hiss shows, or Tape Hiss and Kurt's current show on the broadcast stream.
Avatar 2:26pm
Tony Coulter:

Yeah, that's the patented, much-loved chaos/collage approach. Thing about this Schniztler thingee is that he planned out how the two halves would go together, while allowing for some flexibility and the ability to mix live (tho I'm not doing that -- I'm just letting them play).
