Good Evening, Major Doug! Welcome welcome welcome!

You've been hitting those jazz bins HARD (did a bit of damage yesterday at the Princeton Record Exchange).
Hi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm
KimSorise:

Hey DocJazz! What’d you pick up yesterday?

New acquition! @NGH - welcome to you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm
doctorjazz:

Let's see...got Anthony Braxton 23 Standards Quartet 2003, The Roscoe Mitchell Orchestra, Littlefield Concert Hall, Miles College March 18-20 2018, Ella Fitzgerald, Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie (which I have on vinyl, but they had the audiophile CD for 2 bucks, so I figured I'd compare), Dusko Goykovich, Soul Corner (ENJA, on a recommendation), the Mosaic Box Classic Chu Berry Columbia and Victor Sessions, and new vinyl issues of Art Ensemble of Chicago, The Spiritual, new vinyl Joseph Jarman-Don Mote, Black Paladins (with Johnny Dyani), and a cheap CD by Uncle Tupelo Match 16-20, 1992. Also recently got Silver Jews, Tangled Numbers, Robin Arkestra, first Meeting (both new vinyl), and an audiophile UHQR vinyl (don't ask...), of Axis: Bold As Love. Keep me busy for a while...

KimSorise:

Wow! That’s quiet a haul! Nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
doctorjazz:

Pretty nice haul you foot yourself, from what you've been playing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm
KimSorise:

I just got some heavy reissues that I would never be able to afford - Like this one - CAE
Avatar 8:12pm
northguineahills:

I'm not allowed new acquisitions, for logistical (and now), fiscal reasons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
doctorjazz:

This is great, have to say!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm
KimSorise:

Bummer NGH - but man. I have been there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm
KimSorise:

The CAE LP is a UK Reissue 2 LP on 45rpm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm
doctorjazz:

45 RPM, generally great sound!
(I have logistical issues as well, as my wife points out. As she said yesterday, "They Call it Princeton Record Exchange-you have to bring some of your stuff and exchange it!-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm
KimSorise:

This Billy Bang piece is bad ass enough to make me want. To do another The Revolution will be Live mix
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm
KimSorise:

Right! I am not so good with the exchange part, but I do love Princeton Record Exchange. My best friend lived in Mt Holly for a while and I would always go when I visited. Now she is in Philadelphia - so I get to go to Brewerytown... often a joyous experience!

northguineahills:

(well, the missus stopped me from buy rekkids, as I was running out of room). So WFMU marathons and live shows are where I get my records. A good sampling of hardcore/noise/synthcore that comes here, but since Sam Rivers passed, not much jazz legends.... (still waiting for my first paycheck).

Being mobbed by ConEd, I can relate!
Avatar 8:27pm
northguineahills:

I've mentioned this before, but I saw Billy Bang at Stonewall Inn (yes that one). He was very personable...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm
KimSorise:

Wow! You have and that is amazing! @NGH

When I saw the village voice concert section, I literally did a double take at the venue he was playing. I took my now ex-gf w/ me. Billy passed 2 years later.

Thank you, all! I am excited. I think it will be a much needed service for our students, teachers and parents. Plus I love to work one-on-one with kids and help build that confidence and esteem through self advocacy.

Wish I picked up this Steve Reid, so good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm
doctorjazz:

My daughter's studying Secondary Education/Biology at TCNJ
(Just finished her 3rd year). She loves it when what she teaches "clicks" with the kids (She did her 1st year student teaching this past year).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm
doctorjazz:

I've always thought of Cowell as more mainstream...this is disabusing me of that impression.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
KimSorise:

That’s wonderful! @Docjazz! It is hard work, but a very gratifying way to spend a days work. You always them home with you but it’s worth it.

The only Cowell before this one I have is on Strata-East, so I always put him in that more pseudo spiritual vein.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm

But relevance to the curriculum is key any day in a classroom.
