She played last in a nonsensical free concert at the Boston Esplanade (with They Might Be Giants and Suzanne Vega!), and my high school friends and I, being too young to know how awesome Patti was, left before her set. I didn't properly do penance until just last year, when I caught her doing an impromptu unplugged set as part of her book tour.

She played last in a nonsensical free concert at the Boston Esplanade (with They Might Be Giants and Suzanne Vega!), and my high school friends and I, being too young to know how awesome Patti was, left before her set. I didn't properly do penance until just last year, when I caught her doing an impromptu unplugged set as part of her book tour.
