Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from August 16, 2019 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Patti Smith was one of my big concert regrets for a long time. She played last in a nonsensical free concert at the Boston Esplanade (with They Might Be Giants and Suzanne Vega!), and my high school friends and I, being too young to know how awesome Patti was, left before her set. I didn't properly do penance until just last year, when I caught her doing an impromptu unplugged set as part of her book tour.
