I really thought this was Flight of the Conchords for a second.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm
Nate K.:

Hey, @Ultra. Hey, folks. Glad to be back.
  9:14pm
Listener Robert:

Tonight I guessed that the opening monolog (before the Saber Dance) was from "The Life and Loves of a She-Devil". It's been so many yers since I saw the video adaptation of that that I wouldn't recognize Julie T. Burke's voice, but that monolog fits the action. Turned out my friend's TV show "Lost" was based partly on that mini-series and the book; Damon Lindelof's father David had shown it to us.
  9:19pm
JakeGould:

@ListenerRober: Hate to break the news too you, but it was Donovan’s “Atlantis.”

Anyway, HELLO NATE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm
ultradamno:

Reminds me of seeing The Pandoras and the covered Gloria as "Brutus"

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm
Nate K.:

"Atlantis" indeed. But now I want to see "The Life and Loves of a She-Devil."
  9:24pm
Listener Robert:

"Atlantis" was AFTER "Saber Dance". I was referring to the show's opening theme sequence, with the monolog "...bur it down...".

I've heard Status Quo a few times recently, did one of them die?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm
ultradamno:

Maybe it's because Johnny Rotten keeps handing them a left-handed compliment in saying he likes them better than The Ramones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm

Thanks Nate, hi everybody
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm

Larry King is getting divorced for the seventh time. How bad must things have gotten that he couldn't let this one play out to the bitter end?
  9:36pm
Marie:

I thought the Donovan song might be Belle and Sebastian fir a little bit. Where did you go, Nate?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm
TomDash:

Wait, so Donovan was on the Boaty Weekender???

Boaty Weekender!!!!!!!! Sounds so great.

@UD Larry king has not been relevant in years, he is doing stuff for RT
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm

Marc Riley was going on about this during his Brix show but I can't recall what...was he there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm

Well, I didn't think he was relevant, just single and ready to mingle (evidently with Russians)

@ListenerRobert: Doh! You have complete busted Nate! Yes indeed, the opening monologue is from “The Life and Loves of a She-Devil.” Congrats, Robert!

I would have taken a Motörhead cruise.

@Nate: Take them on the NY Ferry boat to the Rockaways. Great $6 investment round trip per person.

Just curious
Not being spurious
Ever play Hunters and Collectors?
I remember those 80s specters (?)
  10:04pm
Listener Robert:

@ Jake Gould: How do you KNOW I was right? The opening monolog fits the story, but I was just going on general principles, not that I remember that bit of monolog or passage from the book...and there could be others that fit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm
ultradamno:

You could pass that Louder Than Death song off as vintage Saints...which is meant as high praise.

Nate K.:

Haha! That's awesome. Makes me like the band even more.
  10:17pm
Listener Robert:

BTW, above I meant Julie T. Wallace, not Burke. There was a character on "Lost" named Juliet Burke, which one viewer convinced me was a tribute to Julie T. because the character's a partly inverted reference to the Hunter character she played from the mini-series of the novel. However, there's also a Juliet Burke on the acknowledgments page of "Holy Blood, Holy Grail", which "Lost" also alludes to heavily.

Thanks! I knew it was gatefold for sure. One LP wouldn't have really been enough, especially given that "Amphetamine" was like 9 minutes.

Great Boaty Weekender opening set—I was fortunate to be there myself, was wondering if any WFMU people were able to attend. Many thanks to WFMU for putting the event on my radar and for your show to extend the vacation a little more!
