Morcco's awesome, though the only time I went was back in '93, so I don't know what it'd be like now.

Don’t you think they went for sex with young ones?

Dunno, but they certainly appreciate Al Andalus music, which is awesome.

In reading their books they mention it. I imagine the danger was part of the appeal
Avatar 🎙 1:41pm
Jherweg:

I think they went to have homosexual sex because I recall the international zone in Tangier was pretty permissive about such things post ww2, but yes sadly I think there was probably some underage buggering that went on..

André Gide and Oscar Wilde had a real good time with Moroccan/Angeline boys, they said. They liked the idea of reviving pederasty or something. Strange poets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
Passaic River Blues:

@JH: I believe you recommended some books by Paul Bowles during a past show. I recently read "Without Stopping" and the bits on recording music in Morocco made me think you might enjoy, if you haven't already, former WFMU DJ Jace Clayton's book "Uproot." A significant portion of the book concerns Rupture's travels in the Maghreb, auto-tune's influence on Amazigh music, and developing code to auto-tune in non-Western tone scales.
Avatar 1:49pm
Hubig Pie:

As soon as I got of the ferry in Tangier, everybody was trying to sell me hash. I guess since I was a young westerner, they thought that's the reason I went there. (might have been part of the reason)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm

They're bringing back Hubig Pies, you know!
