Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
Otis Fodder:

I lifted half of the song 'Ophelia' from this album for the track, The girl I used to be on BF, Hands.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I will have to take a listen to both of them to be able to confirm that ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm
Otis Fodder:

Nice long track, pulling out a small stack of French 60s/70s stuff (Quebec to France).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm
Otis Fodder:

You and I Jan, like MB, share a lot of the same sampling sensibilities.

Hi Linda. @Otis, YES it's the result, it's what sounds that counts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
Otis Fodder:

Hi Linda and totally Jan, sound from the speakers always first (and trying to hit those playlist markers, ha!)
Avatar 3:08pm

hi Jan! just caught your request for strange sounds! i'll try sending you some. mp3, yes?

French Beatles.. with members of Dutronc's backing band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
Jan Turkenburg:

and for the other question: like just said: it's what sounds that counts, regardless of the source, so it can be anytrhing from environmental sounds to composed music and anything in between

wonderful! :-)

Tell me the truth: Am I the only one present who never heard of Moroccan Tree Goats before today? (Not some band, but literal goats from Morocco that climb up and hang out on trees)
afktravel.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm
Otis Fodder:

Totally, that Denis Forcier album runs the gamet of Revolver to early solo Harrision influences. Really fantastic, first solo album from Denis who was in a Quebec outfit, Les Sultans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
Otis Fodder:

Count me in too Jason. Wow, would make for a great band name!!
Avatar 3:33pm
Linda Lee:

this is all just fabulous. :-)
i do remember seeing a photo of the goats in trees! that's something you don't forget..
Avatar 3:34pm
Linda Lee:

what a world this is. fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I seem to remember this photograph, but Moroccan Tree Goats'' didn't ring a bell at first...
Avatar 3:36pm
Linda Lee:

i like the band name 'tree goats' ~ more mysterious without the 'moroccan'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Had a quick read... I find the story hard to believe though... but ok I suppose it's plausible...
Avatar 3:53pm
Linda Lee:

if they climb up on their own there's sure to be a video. nothing so far.
  3:53pm
Martinibomb:

I'd rather Dj than post album art. Sorry folks haha
Avatar 3:53pm
Jason Elbogen:

The Argan tree's fruit seeds (which are undigestible for the goats) are then picked from the goat feces by farmers and subsequently turned into oil for shampoo/cooking. Lather up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm

Otis, I'm actually mad enough to go through my playlist afterwards to correct the forgotten time stamps....
  3:55pm

I love Labor day weekend in PDX it's not a vacation destination for labor day so everyone clears out and its super quiet and awesome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
Jan Turkenburg:

still listening yes, in the garden, barely lit with tea lights, watching the stars. I love september
Avatar 3:57pm
Linda Lee:

if i wish to have a good day i will not listen to the news. it tends to upset without imparting any useful information. by design i think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
Otis Fodder:

Art with playlists is fun, it's all DJ'in' ... everyone brings ones own delights for the bbq playlistin'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm
Jan Turkenburg:

@Jason, yep... but then again ... there are people drinking their own urine so I guess washing your hair with oil derived from goat shit isn't that far a stretch.
Avatar 3:59pm
Linda Lee:

must say Kevin Ayers' voice is like the young Leonard Cohen's! a bit confused at first. then we listen & it's clearly someone else.
  4:00pm

@Linda I agree
Avatar 4:01pm

Avatar 4:06pm
Linda Lee:

indeed they do. & we're also largely ignorant of what goes into our food production anyway.
  4:06pm
Martinibomb:

I have thought about trying to draw and DJ like post art for each song? That's probably insane
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
Otis Fodder:

Haaa, that would be awesome, but wow so much work. :)
Avatar 4:07pm
Linda Lee:

draw for each song? that sounds like a lot of work.
Avatar 4:11pm
Linda Lee:

possibly easier if you stay with abstracts. :-D
Avatar 4:14pm
Linda Lee:

is this really '64? that's a wild sound for the time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm
Otis Fodder:

Yessss!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm
Yvang:

The drawing would have to be done digitally on a tablet to avoid wasting time scanning it, the time spent doing it shorter than the song itself, and in a minimalist style
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
Otis Fodder:

Another one from the future in 1963!
Avatar 4:15pm

G'dayyyy Otis - !
I've been tuning in & out as I start my late day, always fun !
I just returned in time for Heavenly .. and now some Meek , yes ? (I'm a fan of the spacier produced stuff of this era. Joe Meek often nails it !)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, that's true about the coffee beans, I had forgotten that. @MB I had so much plans with the playlists when I started FDL, like translating all the songs, home made moving pictures to fit with each song ... Now I'm just going with the flow. Some playlist may be elaborate and other shows might only have a vague description without playlist.

  4:54pm
Kat in Chicago:

I found the first Carpenters album in a bargain bin as a teen. It is quite interesting! I really liked the Buffalo Springfield cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm
Otis Fodder:

Yes, never admit it years ago. It would have been so uncool. ELO was the same in junior high to high school. Uh, yea, I love Motorhead, Throbbing Gristle, and Crass... Ha ha ha. I do, but also Paul Williams!
Avatar 4:58pm
Mr Fab:

I added one Carpenters song to the Sheena stream: their cover of "calling occupants of interplanetary craft." I like the idea of people tuning in to Sheena to hear some really wild and freaky stuff, and seeing the Carpenters on the player!
Avatar 4:59pm

Speaking of Buffalo Springfield covers, my wife was telling me about this obscure Cher album from the early 70s where she covers Mister Soul. (and Nico?!?) The albums produced by Jimmy Webb! It's pretty great.

Yeah, apparently the album was a real commercial flop, and it wasn't digitally available for a long time. My wife has had the vinyl for ages. I definitely should add some tracks to the Stream. Cher's version of "these days" is quite close to Nico's.
