obsolete industrial sounds? swing saws and mccormick reapers? this sounds like one of the first color printers i used, a tektonix...it used blocks of cmyk wax and it melted and sprayed them onto the paper in a fugly dot patternthat sort of all bled together.

a linotype machine - i was in the right industry.

‘Maudslay Engine’ becomes a slave to melody. After a menacing fighter jet pierces the silence, metal cutting contraptions start droning in harmony, veering towards textures that might belong to a Prurient or Tim Hecker record. Meanwhile, linotype machines and start-up sounds of vintage IBM computers croon a surprisingly lyric tune, interrupted occasionally by sharper pulses and ultimately consumed by a fire truck siren.
