Hi! Cool track (The World Of Our Children). Pianist is crazy (in a good way)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm
doctorjazz:

(It strikes me that some of the DJs on the stream have better sounding broadcasts than others, since I got my living room stereo able to play the stream. Your show is sounding very nice indeed here).nice).

I saw the headline on NYT but didn't read the article, didn't know it is review of a new release. Thank you for giving us a taste of it.

Hi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
melinda:

@dr jazz what kind of setup do you have for that? I want to be able to stream on a living room stereo but half my equipment is blinky and I am electronics-ignorant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
Uncle Michael:

Jeepers, "Flavour" is good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
KimSorise:

Thanks all! Glad it sounds good coming over the stream. Sounds good in the head phones and through the monitors.
What are you using @docJazz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
Uncle Michael:

melinda, the simplest way would be with the app on your phone and a cable to your stereo. There are less simple ways.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Uncle Michael:

I think Becker and Fagen must have been Eddie Russ fans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm
melinda:

@UM that's what I thought.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Uncle Michael:

A cable from your computer would do just as well. The next option would be some sort of Internet radio connected to your stereo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm
doctorjazz:

I have a fairly old system of separates (amp, preamp, etc). What I use for streaming is also an old piece of gear (not produced any more, but I see then available used). It's a Logitech Squeezebox Duet. I had it connected to a home network (which an external hard drive had, and allowed me to play music on the PC). That hard drive died, and I don't have a home network set up now, but the Squeezebox let's me get internet radio, Pandora. I think UM once told me he uses one. But, as UM said, if your phone has headphone out Jack, or you have an iPad or similar tablet, that should just plug into your system.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
Uncle Michael:

I do use Squeezebox. I'm using a Squeezebox Touch in this room and a Squeezebox Transporter in the living room. I also use it as a player on my phone, tablet and computers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm
Uncle Michael:

Is Fred testifying?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm
KimSorise:

Anyway - sorry for venting! Thanks for listening...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
doctorjazz:

I'd Love to learn how to do more with the Squeezebox, but I love getting the stream over it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
melinda:

What I wonder about, since I don't know much about receivers and I might need a new one, is what to look for if I know I want to plug in a streaming device in addition to a cassette player, turntable and cd player. Do the cool vintage receivers with radio tuning knobs have enough holes for all that? Like I said, I'm ignorant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm
coelacanth∅:

phono in; cassette in/out; cd in; aux in. probably all you need.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
doctorjazz:

You likely need a cable that had a phone Jack on one side and an RCA plug on the other (which I'm sure is available), and plug into aux.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
melinda:

Ok to vent Kim. That sounds sucky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
coelacanth∅:

you could also use a 2nd cass in, which some receivers have, or a vcr in with a stereo input.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm
doctorjazz:

You wouldn't use phono...it's eq'd for vinyl. The non phono inputs should be fine, aux or tape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm
Uncle Michael:

What Doc and Coel said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm
melinda:

Thanks guys. I haven't had a complete setup since I moved into this house 16 years ago, it will be a great day when I can listen to records and FMU on good speakers in my living room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm
Uncle Michael:

You could also do what I do when I'm traveling. I use my phone and a Bluetooth speaker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm
Gina Bacon:

Good evening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm
Uncle Michael:

Gina!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm
Gina Bacon:

Howdy! (:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm
doctorjazz:

(You also wouldn't use phono, or tape, if you have a turntable and cassette to plug in. You'd need 2 other inputs for the CD player and internet radio source (or, you could unplug the CD player and plug in the internet radio source).
Amazon has a room of Internet radios, if you don't wantto use your phone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm
doctorjazz:

I use the phone and Bluetooth speaker in the bedroom.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21pm

Hey, Gina!

Kim it's too bad about your experience with the handyman...at least it wasn't >$10,000. stolen + >$40,000. paid for a shitty job in almost all respects - as my sister experienced a few years ago.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm
melinda:

I might get a Bluetooth but since I have other issues to fix I thought I'd kill multiple birds with one stone by getting a new receiver or fixing the one I have, if it has what I need. We have a Bluetooth at work and it's better than the tiny awful speakers I had before but kind of lame.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm
KimSorise:

Hi Gina

I use a integrated amp and nice speakers in the house, monitors for the studio all hooked through the mixer. But I also use a portable plug in Bluetooth audio transmitter that beams from my studio to the Bluetooth speaker in the kitchen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm
coelacanth∅:

yeah all you need is a receiver and a wire. if you have a good rca jack stereo cable you just need an adapter, probably 1/8"stereo > 2 rca females. a couple bucks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm
KimSorise:

Exactly @coelacantho
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm

No worries, Gina. It’s better than what was there but it was completed shotily and the worst thing is it was a friend’s brother.
