It's been too long since i've huddled in the dark, naked, trembling and alone, feeling the aural assault of such songs.

Bill Zebub:

Scott - those are Brazilian guitar players. The next song is specifically for you... (Warel Dane - the singer, died last year - he is from pacific northwest
  4:19am
Scott Williams:

Thanks Bill, never woulda guessed Brazil! The Selcouth is for me? I'm liking the jumpy guitar player a lot.
  4:20am
Bill Zebub:

It is multi-national experimental Scott - a favorite record of mine. When I heard you play Zappa on your guitar I knew that you could appreciate such experimental stuff
  4:23am
Scott Williams:

Bill, I loved all the mixing of different styles (we're talking Selcouth, right?)
  4:27am
Bill Zebub:

Yes -Selcouth - I will play more on my next show (as well as much more bizarre-to-the-acerage-ear music)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29am
mariano:

Speaking of Brazilian guitarists, I was at a rock festival in '94, several stages. A friend of mine said "Ooh, there's a Brazilian band at this other stage, I'd love to hear some Brazilian music." I looked at the name: Sepultura. I told him they were a thrash/death metal band. He said that was the stupidest thing he'd ever heard and that I was being a know-it-all. A Brazilian metal band! Where do you get this stuff?
  4:32am
Bill Zebub:

Mariano - some people have no idea how strong the various metal scenes are in South America, and how far players have exported (Like Luis Galvez from Chile who formed Tristitia in Sweden). As bands what it is like to play in Mexico and Brazil and they will tell surprising tales,
  4:33am
J is A:

It's like watching a Bill Zebub movie in the background while you work from home...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37am
mariano:

Bill - yeah, metal's yuuuuge in Latin America. Flight 666, the Iron Maiden documentary, has some amazing concert footage. They played to around 300,000 people in Brazil iirc.
  4:40am
Bill Zebub:

J is A - wouldst thou like to plug thy band here? (do not plug my wares, though - it is conflict of interest)
  4:43am
J is A:

Not my band, a former band member is in Summoner's Circle doing their own black metal meets southern blues type thing.
  4:43am
J is A:

For anyone who wants to give it a spin: https://youtu.be/DHkVCyQbtaw
  4:47am
Scott Williams:

J is A: feel free to plug Bill's wares, that's fair game for you here, s'long as he's not doing it. I recommend Bill's early cartoony shorts!
  4:48am
Bill Zebub:

Scott - I was just enjoying the oldies that we shot at WFMU in East Orange
  4:49am
Bill Zebub:

That was when I was constantly discovering the magic of WFMU.
  4:49am
J is A:

He wrote a book of corny poetry. Did he threaten to read it on air yet?
  4:52am
Bill Zebub:

Listeners write and recite poems on the air - thou shalt hear on the next show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55am
mariano:

Thanks for the link, J is A: got it queued up for after the show.
  5:02am

Bill, same here! Magic discovery period, 1996-97 - I learned so much. Hey, we were classmates! You, me and Maryann Ciba, class of '96
  5:29am

Bill - send this one to Ken pronto, instant hit for the Satanic Host of the Wednesday morning show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29am

Ah, clever. Norwegian wood = burning Norwegian churches. I see what they did there.
  5:31am
Bill Zebub:

Scott - I meant to make a disc of music for Ken... I can make one for you as well.
  5:34am
Scott Williams:

Bill, please do. Time for me to go, the rain is finally clearing and I've gotta be up by.... I dunno, whenever. Good night Bill and all friends!

Ken From Hyde Park:

Take care, Skeleton Scott. Have a good weekend.
  5:44am
Bill Zebub:

Ignatatus666 I wanted to ease people into it. This is also why I played no death metal - it is not my regular slot. My next show is going to be more kooky - to show people that there are many strange sides to metal
  5:46am

Ohh, Thank you professor! Norway is very well represented today.

  5:52am

Hello there Ken. It kinda sucks. But compared to the situation over there in New York, it's not so bad. Hope you guys are staying safe!
Stay home and listen to WFMU
  5:53am
Bill Zebub:

I appreciate you who listened. I selected songs that I hoped would be enjoyed even by people who do not like metal. I will show some more aspects of the sub-genre next time, but feel free to explore my archives.
