Howdy! Busoni, sono buoni... (Been listening to a number of his Bach transcriptions and a few of his original works recently.)

Tempestuous, impetuous - there has to be some anagram-type wordplay going on. Anyone care to work on that?
Avatar 8:14pm
Bethany Ryker:

YES, @Tim - I was hoping that would come through. It took me a minute to identify it because it was certainly not what I was expecting with that piece! You've got great ears.

Rebecca:

Hey Bethany and Co. Impetuous! The perfect antidote for a dreary evening in Buffalo. Thanks!
  8:17pm
bunyan:

Impetuous and impetus come from the same root meaning "to attack"; tempest actually comes from tempos, "time, season" (which was a surprise to me).

Hey Bethany, crew, people.

Tim:

It’s a great sample too bad the writer doesn’t get residuals on it

Clarke is now enjoying a resurgence of interest. There are multiple recordings of the viola concerto, among other works. I find 29 at Presto Music.

TDK60:

That Clarke piece caught my ear.
Avatar 8:36pm
Bethany Ryker:

Glad to hear it @TDK60! I can't get over that it was written in 1919 - but could have been decades or a century later and sound current.

Enjoying this show with a marvelous thunderstorm as layered percussion.

You go with your impetuous own self.

tempestuos - like a storm raging inside you
impestuos - like an imp raging inside you
  8:45pm
Dean:

You're impestuous is when you insist on dressing every dish with smashed basil and olive oil.
  8:46pm
Dean:

Er, "viola sonata" I shoulda said^
Avatar 8:48pm
Bethany Ryker:

The pronunciation is tricky in a way I didn't predict! Storms and imps crashing about!

Never mind my grammatical mash-up.

I definitely recommend taking a listen to this entire Eben quartet...Labryrinth of the World and Paradise of the Heart.

Oof - even a few minutes is nice...

bunyan:

Happily, YouTube is now sufficiently "mature" that one can easily find posted recordings for these composers. Curiously, Eben's "Labyrinth" turns up as an *organ* work...
  8:58pm
Dean:

Wakeman, Emerson, or Whiteley?
