Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21am

@Stanley: Start with figuring out the software you actually need. That should narrow the field a little. Avoid Apple if you can (expensive and quickly obsolete). Linux is getting more and more usable by non-geeks, but lacks a lot of the software you might need. If you go the Windows way, beware of attractive laptops that come with a lot of bloatware you can't easily get rid of

CarolCrow:

@David@6:20 & Stanley@6:27: Sounds sweet:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30am
fred:

@Stanley: Sadly, it depends. I had a Lenovo laptop at work with McAfee installed and the only way I could get rid of it was through an OS reinstall, but that wipes out a lot. It might be the way to go with Windows: wipe everything out by reinstalling the OS right away, then add what you need (a free antivirus first)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30am

Interestingly, La Barbara's albums are not expensive, for the most part, in contrast with instrumental albums of experimental music of the same time (70s/80s). Her singing is elemental, and challenges the notions we have of what constitutes singing, and definitely can be off-putting. In photography, there is the work of Connie Imboden, which also can be disquieting or even disturbing, but is great nonetheless.
(I didn't realize that this CD came out in 2017!) Guess I gotta order one up.

@Stanley: If you can find one, consider getting your laptop from a local shop instead of online. They should be able to help you get what you really need, and they'll have an incentive to be on your side. Also, you'd help a local business stay open. It might cost more, but it could be a worthwhile investment (do ask around to avoid the bad ones though)

@Mairzy his Rapid Eye movement was the docs first clue. The pupils dart left and right rapidly and that confuses the dog. Vestibular is most likely caused by an inner ear canal infection.He puts his head under water in creeks often. So it was a no brainer how he got it.

Mairzy D, I had 3 bpv episodes years ago. There are physical therapists who specialize in this - vestibular therapists. Layman’s terms - they knock the loose crystals out of the inner ear.
There are videos too, look for Epley maneuver, vestibular therapy exercises... if you are up for trying on your own.
Ignatatus, hope the dr can do similar for your pup.

Mairzy you’re welcome :) Yes I am lucky I haven’t experienced bpv again. The first time I was at my office 26 miles from home. Terrified at the thought of driving home after telling my manager why she saw me grab onto a file cabinet on a walk to get my lunch, feeling like everything was tipping over. Meclizine was prescribed for the motion sick feeling, but it isn’t a fix, and causes drowsiness of course.
I was referred to a vestibular therapy specialist. First she assessed, then she put me thru the moves that feel ridiculous, but they worked.
Ignatatus, hope it gets sorted. Disconcerting and can have one hanging on to a chair arm for dear life, and that’s when you know what’s happening; poor pup :-/
