I heard someone pronounce "jaguar" like "jagwire" in a YT video (a video on historical linguistics no less). Never heard that one before.

kpx: There were several words I mispronounced as a kid/teen because I'd only ever seen them in writing and sometimes I jumbled some letters. "Awry" I thought was "AW-ree," "treatise" I thought was "TREAT-see," and many other failures.

I want some interface I can work with my physical fingers, and I refuse to ask "Alexa" to play me some music or request that "Siri" find me the incorrectly-mapped route someplace or shout "Hey Google!" at the toaster.

If a gizmo has been re-engineered to prioritize artificial unintelligence interfaces to the detriment of quick, easy, straightforward conventional controls... I'll shop for somebody else's gizmo.

Connery was never better than in Sidney Lumet’s The Offence. Man, that is a dark, powerhouse of a film. Still really uncomfortable to watch, but utterly compelling. My mum told me that when she and my dad went to see it in the early 70s, everyone filed out in complete silence. Amazing electronic score by Harrison Birtwhistle, too.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

I've been trying to catch up with John Boorman's Zardoz for a long time. Sounds like a very nutty project. I think that was the first film Sean Connery made after he decided to leave the James Bond franchise. Cinematography by Goeffrey Unsworth who shot Kubrick's 2001.
