I'm feeling OK, gradually improving but it's slow going and I'm not pushing myself. Still in some pain but nothing I cannot manage. I will be doing a show this week at my usual time so tune in if you get the chance! Thank you for asking. I have a ways to go yet but I am better than I was a couple of weeks ago!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm
Woo:

Hi Kip. Great to hear you'll be doing the show and you are on the mend.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Discotech Underground:

I want to thank everyone in my WFMU family for all the love and support as well! You've been great, every one of you! It's really helped get me through this ordeal and looking forward to getting back to somewhat normal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
KimSorise:

Really glad to hear, Kip, and they got it all?

Hey DocJazz! Or should we call you GrandJazz now since you have take on the adoptions duties of our fair GTDR? Thanks for swing

Discotech Underground:

Kim-I have to back a week from Wednesday for one little follow up where they have take out just a tiny bit more to make sure they maintain the margin but it is a quick out-patient thing that they to with a local. After that I start radiation for a month shortly after Christmas.

This Mike Longo cut sounds very "Grand Wazoo-ish".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm

Kip, hope you're feeling well, I hadn't heard!

@Kim, what new duties have I taken on? (Not a granddad yet, daughters are taking their sweet time... As I did...)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:28pm

Thanks, doctorjazz. I had pretty major cancer surgery about two and a half weeks ago. I'm making progress, though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
KimSorise:

I hadn't thought about that, Kip. I also haven't listened to the Grand Wazoo in many many years.

Didn't mean to age you except in reverence and thanks for supporting us! No containing this motley drummers crew I am afraid - which is good as well. Welcome/.

My personal favorite Lee Morgan is "Search For The New Land".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm

Yes, this is his last studio session with Billy Harper, Bobbi Humphrey, Grachan Moncur III, Reggie Workman - it's really great!

I found out about Lee Morgan by listening to Irwin Chusid on WFMU. Irwin was my gateway into this universe. Thank you Irwin.

@Woo, Irwin opened a lot of doors for me as well. I appreciate him.

Yamaguchi of not a name I know (want it some sort of toy some years back), do like this track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm
KimSorise:

Me either! The LP was completely new to me. I bought it because I liked the cover, (a metal fan and wooden school chairs), this time period of jazz from Japan (mid to late 70s), and took a chance. The whole LP is fantastic.

I just learned Lloyd McNeill passed back in October.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm

Incredible life he lived and left us with some astounding music: www.legacy.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm
doctorjazz:

Someone bought me a present, a round mat for the front door, made to look like an LP, with the center saying The Skowrons, Spinning Since 1992/High Fidelity, Side 1, surrounded by a black, grooved area... You'd think it's the perfect gift for a music/LP collector, right? I can't bear to step on it, or see anyone in my family step on it..
🤣
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm
Gina Bacon:

Maybe you need to hang it up, doctorjazz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm
KimSorise:

That sounds very cool and yes, maybe hang it.

Hi, Kim! Tuned in from a wind and snow blasted parking lot waiting for a child to finish up at basketball. Thanks for the musical company. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm

Absolutely, Andres! Stay warm and welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm

Hi Gina! Hanging it is a good idea (but I'll get such flack from the family...).
Just picked up that Yamaguchi (not that easy to find...)
