A friend of mine who is a long-time Abortion Rights activist (she was an employee of Abortion Access Front before the pandemic hard-times forced them to eliminate her position) has taken great issue with the way The Satanic Temple has approached their abortion fight, and has done a tremendous amount of writing on how many in the Pro-Choice movement hate the way TST has handled themselves on the issue.

There was also some audio that turned up recently of the founder of TST saying some very anti-semetic shit on a podcast.

I'm all for a group like TST going against the mainstream, and agitating against the Christian norm, but I still cannot, in good conscience, support ANY organized religion, Satanic or not.

@mike: my understanding is that it's less about worshiping the diety (they claim they don't even actually believe Satan exists), and more about what that diety symbolizes: The Biblical Devil stands up to God's authority, convinces Eve to eat of the tree of Knowledge, for the sake of giving humans knowledge, etc. In today's contemporary world, they simply use the idea of Satan to stand up against Christian indoctrination.

Yes, I was not raised with any religion, but I learned quite a bit about Catholicism through looking at all that art, which wasn't even considered "art" but more like devotional aids, or declarations of power. Ozzy played in Grand Rapids, MI (the city where I grew up) in the mid 80s. GR was quite conservative and uber religious then. The week before Ozzy's concert, the newspaper published an article written by a Christian based mental health counselor that had a list of bands your kids should not listen to. Not entirely true, no one you know. I know older counterculture types who still struggle, love, and try to stay active. I'm one.

k8 D:

seems a lotta folks (read: youth) are too into their personal branding to really lean into the collective. we need them, otherwise, the older crowd will have to bust out on their behalf. god knows we are TRYING!

What would Satan do? I bet he'd smoke a J and join us!

True story. My wife (the one who rolled up her uniform) was exploring the Wiccan religion many years ago. She learned about a meetup on FB. It was at night and the address was a rural house at the end of a long driveway. She got halfway up the drive and saw no lights anywhere. She got nervous and turned around. On the way back down the drive a cat 🐈‍⬛ screamed and jumped on the windshield. Of course my wife freaked out. When she got back she had the muddy paw prints on the windshield to prove her story. She is still spiritually questing...

As an occasional Luciferian (i.e., lightworker) down here in the South, it's hard to treat the satanic panic lightly right now since the MFs just blew up the Georgia Guidestones, which had some good things going for them despite their potentially questionable origins. Things are getting scary out there...

I read those guidstone guidelines. The population limits and reproduction control ideas struck me as a bit fascistic. I mean I support the goal I suppose, we need to manage resources better. But even with the nuclear war the author thought was inevitable limiting global population to 500,000,000 is going to require some real authoritarianism.

That said the anti globalists whole likely blew it up are also tooling for authoritianism.

Hi Sean, I understand where you're coming from, but always figured that nature or 'the universe' will take care of human overpopulation eventually. Back in the 90s when I was a kid, the implicit white supremacy behind everything around here (including your example) wasn't quite as obvious as it is now. And being not a cancer on the earth is a great idea! I like the Temple's Tenets, too.
