	👻 9:07pm Austin Rich: While Robert Louis Stevenson was sort of better known for his adventure novels (Treasure Island and Kidnapped, which are both excellent), this was probably his other literary high point. Given the horrific content of the story, the character has been re-interpreted in a number of ways over the years. This version sort of compacts the story in a number of ways, but still works pretty well.

	👻 9:29pm Austin Rich: Mr. Hyde is a character in Alan Moore's "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," where Dr. Jekyll was able to escape the fate of the novel, and was used in extreme situations, when the group needed a "heavy hitter." I do love those Alan Moore comics, but they do a number on my ability to actually remember the actual stories of the novels.

If we're doing Halloween music recs, I have this awesome Nuggets Halloween set that has some really great stuff! That and Eban Schletter's Witching Hour. Phew. That's a real goodie.

	👻 9:40pm Austin Rich: I may have mentioned this last week, but "The Price of Fear" ran for 10 years on the BBC, and they would release a couple new episode every year or so. (They may have been recorded all at once, or at different times. I'll need to do more research to figure that out.) But this show continues to be re-run on the BBC to this day, around this time of year.
	👻 9:42pm Austin Rich: This episode has Price in a much lighter role, really only being the narrator. One of the strange qualities to this show is that Vincent was IN the story as often as he was just "Observing."

	👻 10:18pm Austin Rich: He did loose a lot of people to illness, and he was ignored and left with no resources by his family. So certainly he struggled his whole life. Still, you don't have to be a creepy weirdo. I'm not sure one follows from the other.

	👻 10:33pm Austin Rich: I think in all of the classical texts I've studied - The 1930's Universal Horror Films - vampires were separate from werewolves. Combining them would require some sort of modern-day sensibility that defies all of my old-timey conventions!
	👻 10:34pm Austin Rich: I will say, in all seriousness, Heather has studied FAR MORE vampire texts than I, and therefore, is the expert. I will defer.
	10:35pm Heather: I've only ever seen the vampire/werewolf combo in The Vampire Diaries shows and that.... well, why, especially, did I watch that whole thing?! Jeesh. Less text, more TV! You know me and those CW shows!
	👻 10:36pm Austin Rich: I can argue that first Dracula novel by that Stoker dude pretty well. (I wrote a paper or two on it in college.) But I'm really not well versed in "vampires" outside of that.

	👻 10:38pm Austin Rich: This story from "Quiet Please" seems, to me, the most "Lovecraft" inspired of his stories, but a lot of Willys Cooper's stories for Quiet Please have a touch of that kind of tale. I can't find specific evidence to support it, but I have a feeling that Willys Cooper was a big Lovecraft fan.
	👻 10:39pm Austin Rich: I read some Anne Rice back in the day, for sure. But I feel like there was a lot of more emphasis on the sex scenes and on Lestat's band, and not so much on vampire lore.
	👻 10:40pm Austin Rich: I like it when actors try to pretend that they don't know how to "talk" into a "microphone." ("I'm not an announcer.") It's always delivered in a way that almost immediately disproves the idea that they are trying to pretend they don't know what they're doing.
	10:43pm Heather: Anne Rice has her place in pop culture history, absolutely, but it was pretty sensational stuff. That I should revisit, really!
