on my last trip to NYC i stayed near Katz's but had been there a lot so for a NYC deli experience i went to Sarge's on 3rd ave. it was really good! great borscht and a solid 1/2 tongue sandwich on rye with cole slaw and pickles. they have egg creams there too (not as good as Eisenberg's)
