  2:29am
Therese:

Charlie Louvin's politics are not necessarily my own.
  2:30am
coalhard:

i'm going to make like a fetus and head out but still listen to show--thanks all!!!
  2:34am
Adam:

No doubt, but you played that song even though you, and perhaps even WFMU and the bulk of the audience might not share such American triumphalism. Censorious political correctness can crop up, even in listener supported radio--and you didn't swing that way, so kudos. On a purely musical...note, oy...it adds spicy variety to the selections, so there you go, eh? Bravo.
  2:38am
Adam:

For the...record, dios mio...nice Soft Boys, too. Not exactly Thactherite Tories, if I understand correctly. Yay, musical and general freedom!
  2:41am
Adam:

"Thatcherite," rather.
  2:43am
Marmalade Kitty:

No swearing on the show, Adam..
  2:49am
Adam:

Oh, come now, don't be a schoolmarm-alade kitty.
  2:49am
Therese:

Thank you, Adam! Spicy variety is what I am all about.
  2:53am
Adam:

You are most welcome, Therese, and if it makes your or anyone else feel better, I think that "Smoke on the Water" was written about World War II. I haven't heard the rest of the album, but I know some of his younger work. I remember when college friends first gasped upon hearing the Byrds' cover of "The Christian Life." You are made of stronger stuff.
  2:57am
Therese:

Yeah, it seems like he tweaked the words a bit to update the song.
