Avatar 11:47am
tonyc:

Oh, and greetings listener j, Doug S, and Carmichael!
  11:56am
Carmichael:

What's today's topic, Tony?
Avatar 11:57am
tonyc:

Damn coffee is still percolating -- hurry up already ... I'm on in 4 minutes.
  11:57am
Doud S.:

The Doud. Call me the Big Dougbowski!
Avatar 11:58am
tonyc:

@ Carmichael: Today's topic is nothingness, formlessness, themelessness. In other words, there ain't no theme.
Avatar 12:01pm
tonyc:

@ Doug: Did you change the spelling of "Doud" to "Doug" in my comment? Or am I going crazy/blind?
  12:03pm
BSI:

Cheers to those who still percolate coffee. Beats the hot snot out of drip anyday.
Avatar 12:05pm
tonyc:

Hey BSI! I may actually be a dripper, now that you mention it. The word "percolating" was just ready at hand....
  12:05pm
Carmichael:

I am all about all of the above, Tony.
  12:09pm
Carmichael:

Was that Mike McGear, who is the brother of Sir Paul?
Avatar 12:10pm
tonyc:

The very one!
Avatar 12:13pm
tonyc:

FYI: Abstemious Youth = Vittore Baroni
  12:15pm
BSI:

"percolate" as a word is much more cool anyway...
Avatar 12:16pm
tonyc:

Drips drip; the perky percolate.
  12:16pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

Hi Tony and everyone,
thought you were gonna do part 2 of psyche singles M-Z today?
Mike McGear is a half brother of the icon Macca!
  12:17pm
Doud S.:

First typo fixed is free. $4.99 thereafter...
Avatar 12:17pm
tonyc:

This Stark Reality track was originally recorded for a kiddies television show!
Avatar 12:19pm
tonyc:

Hey Flaming Youth! No singles part 2 (Mā€“Z) today, no. Don't know when that'll be -- I'll spring it on you sometime, I guess.
  12:19pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

been some nice psyche funk comps on Stones Throw and its sister label Now-again!
Avatar 12:22pm
tonyc:

I'll have to check 'em out, as the cool percolators say.
Avatar 12:24pm
tonyc:

The Walking Willows = The Tree People minus one member. Saw 'em live in Portland recently and they were great.

RÄ«cƤƤrdĆ¼Ć¼ MƶntƤƤlbƤnĆ¼Ć¼:

Hey Brian & RÄ«cƤƤrdĆ¼Ć¼!
RÄ«cƤƤrdĆ¼Ć¼: I see you've taken permanent Finnish citizenship.
  12:30pm
Brian in UK:

Tony. McGough is pronounced McGoff, just saying. I am useless most names but this much I know.
  12:32pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

I guess us call him McGow!
Avatar 12:33pm
tonyc:

OOPS -- thanks, Brian!
  12:34pm
Brian in UK:

@RÄ«cƤƤrdĆ¼Ć¼ have you become a Finnish whiskey?
  12:37pm
Brian in UK:

Avatar 12:43pm

Greetings, Van!
  12:46pm
RÄ«cƤƤrdĆ¼Ć¼ MƶntƤƤlbƤnĆ¼Ć¼:

My wife, who's 50% Finnish Finnished me
Avatar 12:48pm
tonyc:

Finnished you with Pledge? Pledge to FMU you say?
  12:50pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

hey Tony,
guess pledge will continue and continue until you (WFMU) gets 100% - however long it takes on back of storm damage!
Avatar 12:50pm
tonyc:

FYI: Stephen Cohen is the main songwriter of the Tree People and the Walking Willows. He lives in Portland these days.
Avatar 12:51pm
tonyc:

@ Flaming Youth: Unfortunately you are correct, sir. We need some wealthy 1 percenter to put a stop to this foolishness.
Avatar 12:54pm
tonyc:

Or a lot of not-wealthy 99 percenters.
  1:04pm
Uncle Michael:

Hello drumheads.
Avatar 1:06pm
tonyc:

Hola, Uncle Michael!

I loves The Hearts of Future Karma.
Avatar 1:23pm
tonyc:

Hey: We're half way through the show with no pledges except for the one the mighty Danko made while I (and many of you) slept. This will not stand! Please pledge to help out station and stream!
Avatar 1:26pm
tonyc:

Pledge even tho I'm terrible at pitching, won't you?!? We'll love you for it (we do already, but you know....)
Avatar 1:29pm
tonyc:

To my ears, Leprino's is one of the best "cosmic electronic" LPs of the '70s. Very unclassifiable -- not Berlin Schoolā€“influenced at all, for one thing.
  1:35pm
Doug S.:

Oh that Harps of Fuchsia Kalmia stuff is such a revelation! Favorite discovery of the year. Well, one of my top 100 "recent" favorite discoveries. (I need a discovery intern to help with all the discovering.)
Avatar 1:39pm
tonyc:

Pledge-drive scientists say that long pieces are a no-no. Prove them wrong -- pledge during this Stephen Scott piece!
Avatar 1:44pm
tonyc:

Or pledge for the psych and prog coming up next set.
  1:47pm
Van in DC:

I agree Doug! But mine are in the 100s at this point :)
  1:48pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

or if someone wanted to pledge big on condition you played the whole metal machine music, or the whole nothing album, or six hour Lamonte Young droneathon (Wyton Marsalis -A Love Supreme) - I suppose you have to do it - Discuss
Avatar 1:52pm
tonyc:

I will commit to a three-hour special of music from ANY country -- even San Marino -- if someone makes a generous pledge (at least $100) in the next 30 minutes. That person gets to pick the country, of course.
For $200 I'll do any damn thing the pledger wants, as long as it's legal.
  1:53pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

that seems like a dangerous little promise at the end!
Avatar 1:54pm
tonyc:

Well, and as long as no farm animals are injured.
Avatar 1:55pm
tonyc:

BIG thanks to Manuel de Brussels for his pledge!!! Hurray for Manuel!
  1:55pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

pinky and perky do dallas soundtrack?
Avatar 1:57pm
tonyc:

$200 buys you Pinky & Perky, yes -- tho you might want to invest more wisely.
Avatar 1:58pm
tonyc:

Not that I have any idea who Pinky and Perky are -- maybe I would love them.
  1:59pm
Carmichael:

Ethnic Labor Songs from Lichtenstein. Hmmmm ....
Avatar 1:59pm
tonyc:

Oh wait, I DO know them! Singing critters from the '50/'60s, yes?
Avatar 2:00pm
tonyc:

"Them" being Pinky & Perky, of course.
  2:01pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

yes they were something like the smurfs but more annoying for kids!
Avatar 2:01pm
tonyc:

I will do a three-hour Lichtenstein disco-psych remix show, with everything playing backward, for the right money.
  2:03pm
valkoinen kukkaruukku:

@ Carmichael : ;))) glorious
Avatar 2:03pm
tonyc:

What were P & P again? Rabbits? I have seen 'em on youtube.
  2:05pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

there used to be a closed groove grateful dead record - think the show never ends - I think it was called or something - you could play that for 3 hours for a dollar from me - or like FZ says - the torture would never stop!
Avatar 2:09pm
tonyc:

For a dollar, I will name the space between two tracks after you.
Avatar 2:11pm
tonyc:

By the by, I've never heard the band Flaming Youth, but have been curious to. Phil Collins's debut, no?
  2:11pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

is the whole of the Badge album this good?
Avatar 2:12pm
tonyc:

Yes! The Kath LP too (Badge is an EP).
  2:12pm
FLAMING YOUTH:

yes - the in the air tonight (not a phart) ex genesis, and that other jazz rock band (moroccan roll) musician
Avatar 2:15pm
tonyc:

Thanks to listener Benedikt, of Germany, for this Dannon Wright track

  2:20pm
BSI:

Gonna have to hug my copy of Fils de Mandrin later today. Haven't played Ange in ages...
Avatar 2:21pm
tonyc:

@ Uncle Michael: Thanks for the link to my BotB post on Badge (and other stuff)!
Avatar 2:22pm
tonyc:

@BSI: I have a soft spot for Ange even if they can get kinda cheesy. Love that track in particular.
  2:24pm
Uncle Michael:

Thanks for making that post, Tony. I found it by accident, googling for Badge just now.
  2:26pm
Uncle Michael:

I wish I was having as much luck finding the Kath.
  2:26pm
BSI:

TonyC: Ange is definitely a guilty pleasure. I didn't quite suss the cheese factor until I scored a live DVD of performances from mid '70s -- it's a riot.
Avatar 2:28pm
tonyc:

I have a (French-language) book on them filled with goofy concert shots, so I knew about that side of 'em.
Avatar 2:29pm
tonyc:

@ Uncle Michael: The Kath reissue just came out -- it'll probably pop up here and there sometime soon.
