@ Dean: You're probably right! I really don't know Spanish -- except for random words here and there -- like the word for pigeon peas. (Have to know how to order them, after all.)

Tony Coulter:

So, as I just said: I'll be airing old "Tape Hisses" for the next two weeks as I follow the wild surf. Lemme know if you have any shows you'd like to hear again.
  1:16pm
Dean:

I'm no Latino, but one of my favorite words is Spanish for peanuts: cacahuates!
Avatar 1:23pm

This "Children" is not the U.S. band. It's Bruce Cockburn's '60s psych band (so Canadian).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
cklequ:

Looking through your playlists, the one thing i notice about all the Tape Hiss shows is that, aside from the ones i've managed to catch live, i almost never recognize so much as a band name. I always love those shows, though.
  1:29pm
Dean:

Was that CD hiss?
Avatar 1:33pm

Hey, cklequ! Yeah, I realize the unfamiliarity factor makes it hard to have preferences. Just figured I'd ask, though!

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
Tonight at 7pm (eastern) Jesse Kaminsky's show officially expands to THREE HOURS. Tune in to Kaminsky Kamoutsky and congratulate Jesse! (And answer "no" when he asks, "Does this radio show make me look fat."

Coming up at 6pm (eastern) this evening, Give the Drummer Some will be celebrating —and airing in its entirety — one of the greatest speeches in American presidential history: Jimmy Carter's "crisis of confidence" speech (sometimes referred to as "the malaise" speech). There will be music, too.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm

It really cut across a lot of programming barriers here too. It was just underground enough, yet had so much mainstream-ish appeal, it was played on lots of different types or radio programs.
