Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from October 10, 2014 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Hey there, Gumby....good question!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm
Alex In Illinois:

I have sciatica on and off. A line of tingling going from my back down my left leg and ending in my big tow. Sometimes it is gone for months, then it will start happening again every day. I can make it stop by climbing stairs, squatting, or lifting something heavy with my right hand.

@Alex, my mom had the leg version, and the annoyingly erratic schedule on which it arose. My sympathies to you, too. I worry I may be subject to developing it, too—9+ hr of sitting for this job each day may or may not help.

Give Sandinista another try Uncle Michael. They're at the height of their creative powers and it's loads of fun to hear how far they were allowed to mess around before everything went wrong. Joe's Mescalaros stuff also holds up well.

You know, I will, Pedro. I'll take that triple-monster upstairs with me after the show.

Oh and Topper may have been the best drummer in the world for a few years.

there are some real gems on Sandanista. 3 discs is a bit overwhelming from any artist.

Bad As Me is a great Waits album.

But that's the great thing about Sandinista in 2014, Mike. It's THREE packed disks of the Clash at their peak doing all sorts of things. It's like they bootlegged themselves at the time of the release. Heck, Uncle Bob is only NOW getting around to putting out a full version of the Basement Tapes.

Alex In Illinois:

@Uncle Michael: That is the album with the Hell Broke Loose or Hell Broke Luce song, right? From the point of view of a soldier with PTSD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm
Uncle Michael:

Yes, Alex.

@Uncle Michael: Appears so. I've been depriving myself for the past three years.

And if you haven't seen it Uncle Michael, take a look at the Clash doc Westway to the World. Might get you back in the groove with them.
