That was somehow a nice transition into your show from Mr. Finewine in a strange way.

Mayuko:

Who is this calling themselves 座敷童子 = Zashiki Warashi? Funny name.
Avatar 10:30pm
Mayuko:

apparently there's something similar to zashiki warashi in Russia called домово́йa a protective house spirit in Slavic folklore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
Daniel Blumin:

Thanks for the research! We need more of those spirits here at WFMU Central! Keep the place in tip-top shape!
Avatar 10:42pm
Mayuko:

Well you've got some monsters/spirits and talking machines in this show already. I think the station is more like a haunted house tonight.
Avatar 10:44pm
Mayuko:

Your show often sounds like full of Poltergeists anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
Tome:

I got some spirits starring at me now and they're just getting closer to my mouth anyway ..
  10:45pm
Roy:

Awesome show!!!
  10:45pm
JakeGould:

Doesn’t WFMU also need some ancient spirit to help keep the bathroom in working order?
Avatar 🌫 Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I must remind myself to suggest to Michele & Frangry a possible Shut Up, Weirdo topic "What is your spirit animal?"
Avatar 10:48pm
Mayuko:

I 100% agree, JakeGould. I had to run fix a clogged toilet there literally 15 minutes before my fill-in show started the other day.
Avatar 10:50pm
Mugsy:

Nice to hear you, Daniel. Greetings boarders.
  10:50pm
JakeGould:

@Mayuko: I haven’t been to WFMU’s building yet, but bless anyone who deals with clogged toilets successfully! May the spirits of a successful, non-overflowing flush be with you and others.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
Daniel Blumin:

Phanks, Roy!!! And may the toilet stay unclogged forevermore, Jake. Hiya, Mugsy!
  10:53pm
Mark R:

The FMU toilets are clogged with evil spirits. I had a similar experience, Mayuko. Also was there during a heavy rain and discovered where all the leaks are. (Well, probably not all of them.)
Avatar 10:53pm
steve:

pretty sure the 3rd floor men's room is haunted
Avatar 10:55pm
Mayuko:

Haha! We definitely need em spirits, JakeGould. That happening got me panicky when I really had to feel relaxed to start it out.
Avatar 10:57pm
Mayuko:

ahh, I thought I wasn't the only one, Mark R! it was the worst timing ever for a toilet to clog. 4th floor one is haunted too, steve, unless you're talking about something else like poltergeist, which could have been just Daniel Blumin's show.
Avatar 11:00pm
steve:

true. but think the Poltergeist-y stuff - random furniture spinning around in circles, lamps turning on and off by themselves, sudden gusts of wind coming from nowhere, would be most likely to happen in the green room
Avatar 🌫 Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Probably leftover paranormal beings from Upsala College.
Avatar 11:02pm
fleep:

That was like an MRI, wow.

3rd floor men's bathroom: instagram.com...
  11:06pm
JakeGould:

This bed music is really great.
Avatar 11:07pm
Mayuko:

ahh, you're right steve, poltergeist is more like things flying around. what was the term for the mysterious sound phenomenon in English? Is it also called "Rap" phenomenon here?
Avatar 11:09pm
steve:

wait so "Rap Phenomenon" by YMO isn't about the phenomenon of rap music?!
  11:09pm
JakeGould:

I know the world is moving towards genderless bathrooms, but honestly men’s bathrooms are always nasty and whenever I have snuck into a “ladies room” due to my need to, it has always been so much nicer… In high school, at work, even at nasty clubs in the 1990s/1980s… So much cleaner… And I’m a clean guy but still I cannot make my bathroom as nice as those ladies rooms.
Avatar 11:10pm
steve:

im not sure what word that would be in English Mayuko. hmm
  11:11pm
JakeGould:

@Mayuke: Pretty sure “poltergeist” is the kind of spirit that makes noise since it comes from German and means, “noisy ghost.”
  11:12pm
JakeGould:

I meant, Mayuko.
  11:13pm
JakeGould:

Not, “Mayuke.”
Avatar 11:18pm
Mayuko:

Yah, steve, that YMO track was their attempt of doing rap of which lyrics referring to the ghost rap phenomenon, I think. although the lyric is kinda vague.
Avatar 11:19pm
fleep:

Aliens want our trousers! Protect your danceypantz at all costs!
Avatar 11:21pm
Mayuko:

oh I see, Jake. Well, I guess you can't make furniture fly around without making some noises anyway, haha! (also again 100% agreed on the statement re men's bathrooms - my job once was a public bathrooms cleaner)
  11:21pm
JakeGould:

@fleep: Aliens can travel thousands of light years through space to come to Earth for our pants and to anally probe us. It’s a crazy universe. I mean E.T.’s finger, right?
Avatar 11:24pm
fleep:

@Jake Whatever they found by probing, they found long ago. Now they do it to get the probing budget renewed each year. And for kicks.
  11:24pm
JakeGould:

@Mayuko: Cleaning bathrooms should always be rewarded with good karma.
  11:25pm
JakeGould:

@fleep: So why isn’t NASA sending out more probes to probe alien butts on other worlds. Do we even know if aliens on other planets have butts as well? Maybe if Carl Sagan were alive he would be able to answer the question.
Avatar 11:27pm
Mayuko:

@Jake Well it gave me the skill to fix a clogged toilet in 10 seconds and get back to the DJ seat in time for a show, so I'm happy.
  11:30pm
JakeGould:

Excellent skills to help you get back on the air so quickly and cleanly!

I also learned simple plumbing when the old building my parents and I lived in in Brooklyn was bought by crappy landlords in the 1980s. The super wouldn’t fix things so decided to learn how to fix it myself when I was a teenager.
  11:40pm
JakeGould:

If we were on North Korean time, would the show be over by now?
  11:40pm
cheri:

I have to check out now Daniel, I hope to see you next week for another fun Friday night! thanks
Avatar 11:43pm
Mayuko:

@Jake As far as I know this is the Japanese answer to your question for the alien-butt issue: pic.prepics-cdn.com... They have butts on top of their heads.
  11:44pm
JakeGould:

@Mayuko: Fascinating! So probing an alien butt would give us insight into alien thoughs. Thank you, Mayuko!
