Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Hi Davis, welcome back!

afternoon, Ridgewood folks and all!

I'll salute!

Hey all. Back all refreshed and loaded with goodies imported from Chicago!

Good afternoon David, Ruth, and Ridgewood people

Hey Fred. The overtone hunt is on for today!

Hello.

Uncle Michael, always an honor!

I can't separate out viola/trombone/guitar/harmonica, wild!

Lovely drone!

Somewhere b/tn Alvin Lucier and Eliane Radigue.

I mixed the room mics with the board feed but heavier on room than I usually do. The room added a lot as is usually the case with this kind of acoustic phenom.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
Webhamster Henry:

I'm getting a really good standing wave here in the apartment... as I walk around, I get different phases.
Avatar 3:33pm
northguineahills:

Now I just need to walk through and around my earbuds.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:34pm

I think you are going to need a longer cable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
fred:

@Webhamster Henry: I used to do the same thing at harsh noise wall shows
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm
Webhamster Henry:

It's a little too noisy now, but with purer tones, it's a pretty engaging reality!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm
fred:

I think the best such experience I had was at a Phill Niblock show, in a gothic church
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm
Webhamster Henry:

The dronefest in Hudson is pretty good, but I of course do a lot of drones at home.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:51pm
weinstein:

And Niblock wrote a pice or two for David First, and I love that work, but have to mention MaryAnn Amacher here.
Avatar 3:55pm
northguineahills:

I love MaryAnn's work. Does Phil still do his loft shows?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm
fred:

I never heard her work, but I guess I'd be disappointed: there's not much left of my left ear after six surgeries
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
weinstein:

Phill does his bi-annual 6 hours on the solstices but not at the Centre Street loft any more. Last few at Roulette.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
weinstein:

And Fred, yipes. Well, MaryAnn is gone and her work kind of went with her because it was so extreme and linked to her process.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Webhamster Henry:

Well, work is continuing apace on fixing up Maryanne's decrepit old house here in Kingston. There's supposed to be a mini museum in there about her, but I'm not sure how that could be presented! Especially if most of the rest of of the place is to be a B&B!

Where at 56 Bogart is the drawing/storytelling thing? That's this Sat.? Got a link?

I'm a big fan of Text-Sound Texts, which I think is now available on archive.org. archive.org...

1988... The year The Naked Gun was released. Is Enrico Palazzo featured on this?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:31pm

I went to Wrigley on my trip! It's not totally ruined!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm
Uncle Michael:

It's not slightly ruined!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
weinstein:

Regarding the Amacher legacy... there are a lot of odd noises emanating in her absence...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
fred:

I've never seen a baseball game. But I did make a concerted effort to follow baseball for a couple of years or so, and to learn some of the rules, because the American language is full of baseball references (even more than to football)
  4:36pm
Dean:

WorldCat shows two holding libraries for this recording. Bates College has it on cassette. Rensselaer Polytechnic has it on VHS.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:36pm
weinstein:

Regarding Wrigley... I thought I might feel sad or sorry to see all the new construction. But I was happy as ever just being there. No problem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
Webhamster Henry:

I like how there's so little baseball in this piece .. just baseball epiphenomena!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
weinstein:

Kostelanetz collaborated with an animator to make a video version. It's pretty abstract.
  4:38pm
Dean:

The RPI VHS is described in the catalog notes, "This is an audio-only VHS tape of crowd sounds from a baseball game."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm
Uncle Michael:

Don Deckinger...threw the '85 series to the Royals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm
fred:

@Webhamster Henry: I was told by an American coworker that there is actually very little baseball in a baseball game, so maybe that's a representative ratio
  4:41pm
Dean:

That hyper-reverb PA announcement was pure Firesign Theater.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm
Webhamster Henry:

I like that, in theory, a baseball game can go on forever in extra innings.
Here's Kostelanetz on this opera a little, recently published, probably why he handed David this cassette! www.newenglishreview.org...

I thought it was Wrigley for a second as I heard the crowd say, "throw it back" (a while back in the piece).
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:51pm

Cubs-Washington Aug 5 I think. Cubs win! Cubs win!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm
Webhamster Henry:

I think you can keep hitting foul balls and never get struck out either. When cybernetic designated hitters are allowed, games may never end!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:52pm
weinstein:

The "throw is back" tradition started later than '88 I believe.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:52pm

Fred, the existential, minimalist, mindfulness aspect of this game could keep me gabbing with you for days. Maybe just listen to George Carlin on the subject.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm
fred:

I'm familiar with his baseball vs football piece
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm
Uncle Michael:

Thanks, David!
