hi Sam and people

Sam Segal:

Shouts out, @Melinda. Welcome to the Horse Zone!

Hi. I think Bette Midler and Barry Manilow used to conduct workshops & seminars on Bath House Etiquette.

I'm assuming it takes a while for the icons to show up w/ one's profile? I selected a few GTDS djs but after my card went through, my receipt said it it went to the general WFMU fund.

northguineahills:

oh, it finally showed up.

Haven't heard Green velvet in a while.

Sam Segal:

Thanks for chipping in for the stream, @NGH!
@SBP: My bath house etiquette is infamously poor.

Gilly Siegel:

Green velvet is quite good!

What Gilly Siegel said!

Gilly Siegel:

Personal Opinion: Chicago is very not good or cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm
Sam Segal:

@NGH, thats your queue to repeat your last comment.

Doug shared this earlier today:
www.bisaufsmesser.com...

As for Chicago, certainly more interesting and creditable early on Then served up some dreadful syrup later.

Doug shared it Friday actually. I saw it today in an archive listen/check. Lost my horse and calendar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm
Sam Segal:

Well, considering Doug is "The Management" when it comes to this here stream, I will defer to him on the matter of fucking drum circles.

(incoherent greetings), @Ike.

Chicago has its moments, but it's not a go-to record, even though I have two of their's on vinyl. Definitely sample-worthy. I don't mind listening to them
Avatar 9:38pm
northguineahills:

huh, this is on Warp.....? (I haven't been paying attention lately.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm
Sam Segal:

Yes, Warp has gotten into the territory of futuristic R&B. That record has a few producers whose own material you might think of as more traditionally Warp-y.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm
melinda:

I would like to visit the Esalen Institute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
Sam Segal:

I think it actually still exists, @Melinda.
  10:31pm
Gilly Siegel:

Is this recording from your instagram story last night?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
melinda:

Sam it does! www.esalen.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
Sam Segal:

Some of the material comes from that video, @Gilly. Some of it comes from other sources.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm
melinda:

The whole concept of the Human Potential Movement is fascinating. When I think of Esalen I see the opening scenes from Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice.
Avatar 10:36pm
still b/p:

I was going to say exactly that, Melinda, even though I hadn't seen the movie opening for many many years....until I just gave it a refresh now.
Avatar 10:38pm
northguineahills:

Just found out there's a noise/avant/experimental show w/ a brass band w/ electronics only w/in walking distance. I feel a need to support the curious arts here, I can't take it for granted, like in NYC. Ciao, Sam!

(I need to be in bed a shade after 12ish).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
melinda:

It's such a beautiful location. There is always a fringey wacked-out side to things New Age or Human Potential, but if you can steer clear of that and find the comfortable spot within, there's worthwhile stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
melinda:

Some Esalen FAQs: What if my roommate snores? Can I bring my stash?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Sam Segal:

hahahahahahaha...is that for real, @Melinda??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm
Sam Segal:

Are those from their website?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm
melinda:

Yes. Also: Must I get naked?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
Sam Segal:

Also, to be clear, I am by no means anti-New Age. I love some New Age music, and definitely find value in streams of thought that are considered New Age.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm
melinda:

Me too, Sam. It's always interesting finding the boundaries between the worthwhile and the ridiculous.
