	5:11pm northguineahills: One of the best Ethiopian restaurants I've been to was in South Orange, NJ. I was there for work, and had an hour to kill before the next train came to take me back to the city. Two blocks from the train station, was the best Ethiopian restaurant I had the pleasure of eating at outside of Adams Morgan, DC.
	5:12pm Stanley: I was just about to settle in with my new Upper Volta box set when, hey, it's all happening live. Here and Now.

	5:13pm Gary: I can't remember the best Ethiopian resto I've been to, but it was probably in Adams Morgan

	5:20pm Stanley: @Gary: Just cracked the seal this evening but it'll have to wait. I remember buying a few of these Éthiopiques CDs back then. Mahmoud Ahmed comes to mind. Mustn't go check as my partner is asleep in the bedroom.
	5:23pm northguineahills: I'm a light sleeper, but my wife is a very heavy sleeper. I'd come home w/ friends while she was asleep, put on Merzbow or Richie Hawtin on full volume, and she'd have no clue the next morning. (wish I could sleep like that).
	5:23pm melinda: Talk of Ethiopian food reminds me that I want to try making my own injera with teff flour. I've just started experimenting with gluten-free sourdoughs.
	5:27pm northguineahills: Amhara is the province where the rock-hewn churches are in Lalibela, Ethiopia. On my bucket list!
	5:29pm northguineahills: Wow, I remember the first Ethiopiques I picked out was vol 8 in 2000. Can't believe they started in '98.

	7:18pm geezerette: NGH, it was 104 in LA yesterday. Today it's cooled off to 98.
	7:23pm northguineahills: It hasn't hit triple digits since July here, once it got to 105, but the humidity made it interesting.

	9:12pm coelacanth∅: there used to be very good ethiopian places on the upper west side, but i'm talking decades ago. i'm totally out of touch with nyc now, even though i work within 45 minutes of it.
	9:13pm steve: theres apparently a newish vegan ethiopian place somewhere in brooklyn, im curious how authentic that is.

	9:21pm steve: oh right yep that place is still there ngh, i work two blocks away... its so small on the outside and half underground i forget its even there. i did like it when i last ate there probably 5+ years ago.
	9:27pm coelacanth∅: this psyches me up. i'm a few electrical connections away from being able to listen to my (non-computer file) music collection again. if i stay up late i can listen to my Aster Aweke tapes tonight!

	9:38pm coelacanth∅: ...yeah, my volume control on my receiver would suddenly turn itself up - all the way! so i jammed a hunk of wood in there at 1/2 way up and only listen to sources that have their own output control. i still cannot afford to have it fixed, but i suddenly realized i could use my emergency back up amp if i ran the speaker wires through junction box, which i already owned. i just had to buy some rca connectors - which i just got in the mail. (so i have 2 amplifiers, hooked up to different components)

I was there for work, and had an hour to kill before the next train came to take me back to the city. Two blocks from the train station, was the best Ethiopian restaurant I had the pleasure of eating at outside of Adams Morgan, DC.

	5:23pm northguineahills: I'm a light sleeper, but my wife is a very heavy sleeper. I'd come home w/ friends while she was asleep, put on Merzbow or Richie Hawtin on full volume, and she'd have no clue the next morning. (wish I could sleep like that).

	9:38pm coelacanth∅: ...yeah, my volume control on my receiver would suddenly turn itself up - all the way! so i jammed a hunk of wood in there at 1/2 way up and only listen to sources that have their own output control. i still cannot afford to have it fixed, but i suddenly realized i could use my emergency back up amp if i ran the speaker wires through junction box, which i already owned. i just had to buy some rca connectors - which i just got in the mail. (so i have 2 amplifiers, hooked up to different components)
