Glad Jeff got it fixed in time for this smoking Isaac track.

Meghan (@12.18) "my" pub you could hear anything. what gets played is as varied as wfmu.
but there are some regulars who play the worst gangsta rap and usually 20-40$ worth so if i see them come in i'll put a tenner in there.
it's $1/song but some are 1/2 that, and if an album gets enough plays it goes into the 50cent section.
i've been the primary reason for several albums getting reduced.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm

Heya Meghan and aquanauts. I'm here at work, hacking my brains out with a chest cold. Many of the bars 'round here use TouchTunes, which uses the internet. I have the app, so I can download "coins" and enter music from the comfort of my stool. Also, if some punk asses are programming ghetto music, an extra coin is all it takes to jump the queue and play your tune next.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm

One thing I know about my own musical taste is this; no matter who you are, even without having ever met you, I can state for a fact that I like something you hate.
Avatar 1:09pm
northguineahills:

I actually haven't heard that Mittoo, and I have a lot of his music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
Meghan:

I think the bar staff should totally have control of what is being played. as a bartender, you are trying to create an atmosphere, and since you are being paid by tips, you are curating the scene. Having music that could be good talking points and conversation starters. At least that is how I view it!
  1:13pm
JakeGould:

Also, I know some people frown on music being called “wallpaper” but honestly sometimes that is what it is and sometimes wallpaper can be nice.

And there’s just so much Goerge Thorogood anyone can take past teh age of 16.

And then there's the option of having no music at all, so people can — *gasp* — converse.

Avatar 1:56pm
still b/p:

Waited until my device change allowed pasting this from an article, and excuse the length, but it's such a nice -- no, NOT nice -- tangent to the topic of media curating/control and associated risks. Thought timing was funny that I'd read this today just shortly before the bar music-choice discussion, in a profile of a local rough guy with a father as rough or rougher, and when junior was a kid...

"when he was in traction in the hospital, a male nurse would come in and switch the TV in his room to coverage of Watergate. The hearings were riveting the nation, but not its seven-year-olds. 'Finally, one day my father come in … dragged him out into the hallway and kicked the shit out of him, fucked him up real bad.' Cartoon time resumed immediately."

Careful out there. And brogue or no brogue, I've hit my expletive posting quota.
