I think we've looked everywhere for the horse. Have we checked the glue factory?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm
StringOFperils:

Maybe the paper mill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm
chresti:

Is the horse -backed commercial paper covering that house?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm
Sam Segal:

NGH, String, and Chresti! Welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm
Sam Segal:

@NGH, I'm afraid to check the glue factory. Can you look for us?

Happy Wednesday

Happy Constantly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm
Sam Segal:

To clarify, horse-backed commercial paper is a short-term investment vehicle with a maturity date that is typically between 90 and 270 days.

I need some adhesive, so off I go!

Greetings, humans!

THANK YOU FOR CLARIFYING, SAM!

I always wanted Hausu Mountain's logo to be the cat poster from the movie Hausu: www.imdb.com...

or maybe a mashup of Hausu and Holy Mountain
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm
Sam Segal:

Howdy, Ike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm
Sam Segal:

Not a problem, Gary. Always happy to explain horse finance jargon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm
Sam Segal:

@NGH, I think it definitely is a reference to the film Hausu.

Whacky movie that one

Moth Cock is brilliant! Kent, Ohio's very own.

Hi Sam. I'm a male. I gave up shaving several years ago, mostly. But I last used an olde-fashioned double-bladed razor. Closer shave. But yeah, one must be careful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm
StringOFperils:

For a moment, I though you meant a real straight razor, like the long-handled switchblade-type....so there was a brief moment of horror. (I've been tempted, but....it's like a throat-cutter. It remains imaginary.)
Avatar 10:24pm
northguineahills:

I have sensitive skin, so, I usually use an electric razor once a week (the time for me to get a full beard). I've experimented w/ other razors, but even the expensive ones, I, only look good for 12 hours before I develop a rash. So, electric razor it is for me.
Avatar 10:25pm
northguineahills:

I still have some old hardcore/jungle tapes somewhere, but I lost quite a few over the years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm
Sam Segal:

Welcome, TDK! Maybe giving up shaving will be the next step for me. I've never attempted to grow a beard. Always liked to keep clean shaven, but someday I'll be ready for a change, I think.
Avatar 10:26pm
TDK60:

I keep a beard but cut very short with scissors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm
Sam Segal:

@String, I think the full-on straight razor is maybe a bit too intense for me. Don't think I have thick enough facial hair to justify that approach.
Avatar 10:29pm
still b/p:

I use only a trimmer every several days to get the face back down to a presentable one-day growth appearance. I switched to put the predictable cuts and breakouts beeeeehind me once and for all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm
Franco Twinkie:

Hey Sam. About seven years ago, I stopped shaving and cutting my hair, and I've never thought about going back to the trimmed-up look. Of course I look like a troll who lives under a bridge, but it hasn't kept be from getting a job. I haven't exactly looked for one, but that's a different matter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
chresti:

That house looks like our house in San Gabriel, if you take a couple feet off each end, and minus the fireplace and green front yard size.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
StringOFperils:

I think I'm probably just fascinated by the straight razor as dangerous object, sort of like marvelling at a rocket-propelled grenade launcher. Really interesting to look at but I don't think I really want to go near it

I love hearing about everyone's facial hair grooming techniques. Greetings, Franco and SBP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
Sam Segal:

You speak Greek, NGH?
Avatar 10:32pm
TDK60:

I recall when barbers all used to have straight razors and leather straps. Maybe some still do.
Avatar 10:33pm
still b/p:

If you go straight razor, ya get to strop til ya drop. SO there's that.
Avatar 10:33pm
northguineahills:

I don't speak Greek (outside of scientific phrases), but I know their alphabet....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
Sam Segal:

For some reason, I like the challenge created by the safety razor. Cuts and razor burn are more likely, but if I can master proper technique, I won't have to deal with those negative side effects.
Avatar 10:34pm
northguineahills:

(and pilosophical phrases)
Avatar 10:35pm

(I have quite a few rembetika records that put me in the greek alphabet rabbit hole to translate them).

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm
chresti:

I have a couple hairs hanging on my chin, I often forget.
Haha still b/p.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm
StringOFperils:

I still manage to nick an ear or a nostril with the 3-bladed Gillette thingy now and then, so I'm staying in the shallow end of the shaving pool.
Avatar 10:36pm
northguineahills:

*practice on a balloon*, well, if it's going to be that kind of party, OHHHH, we're still talking about shaving....
Avatar 10:37pm
TDK60:

One thing about a double blade razor is it's easy to open and clean hair out.
Avatar 10:38pm
northguineahills:

I get the "fuck resident advisor reference".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
chresti:

I have scars on my shins from shaving.
Avatar 10:41pm
northguineahills:

I would say you're doing wrong. chresti, but I have scars on my arms and hands from shaving (I'm very clumsy, I wasn't trying to shave said areas)
Avatar 10:42pm
still b/p:

Why in the world have women and men gone willingly toward MORE body shaving in recent years? It's the fashion, yes, but seems a damned nuisance, a time-eater, a rash and nick risk everywhar.
Avatar 10:43pm
Ike:

What @StringOFperils said. Too klutzy to level up to a straight razor.

Best shaving tip I ever got: Try aloe vera gel instead of so-called "shaving cream". Love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
chresti:

My brother's former wife shaved her arms, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
StringOFperils:

Hope that wasn't the deal-breaker.

Hello Sam and horse listeners!
Nice set tonight I’m digging the tunes!

Glad you're digging, CC and CF!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Sam Segal:

Chris, what's your shaving regiment look like?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
chresti:

No, StringO, she ran off with his former boss, they divorced and then she had to go back to Switzerland.
  10:50pm
Chris Farrell:

I shave like maybe once every 4 days. I have an occasional nostril trim also which happened to be today!
Avatar 10:51pm
northguineahills:

well, my lappy is acting up and I'm tired anyways, so, thanks Sam and friends!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
chresti:

Goodnight ngh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm
StringOFperils:

I figure that one of these nights, my out-of-control old man eyebrows and nostril hair will simply wrap itself around my head entirely and drag me down into the depths of the bedclothes like the kraken...at least that'll be the end of shaving.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm
Sam Segal:

Sleep well, NGH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
StringOFperils:

Goodnight NGH !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
chresti:

My ex used a Norelco shaver.
Avatar 10:56pm
TDK60:

Night NGH. / I wanna know if: a) The 1890s handlebar mustache thing (from 2008?) is now fading out. b) The long beard (a la The Band or ZZTop) is still with us but, is it fading too? Or, is this gonna be a lasting 21st century thing?
  10:57pm
Chris Farrell:

I retract my statement about shaving every four days it is more like 7-9.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm
chresti:

Are ye olde men's grooming salons open anymore?
  11:02pm
Chris Farrell:

I have been able to get my hair trimmed. I did that maybe a month and half ago or so.
  11:04pm
Chris Farrell:

I grow a long beard seems to be a one way dedication. I feel like if you don’t get itchy and can and have an affinity for them they are great!

Very fashionable in many ways.
Avatar 11:05pm
TDK60:

I've seen open barber shops. But last ten years, been cutting my own hair. / So, Chris, you see a long term long beard trend here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm
Sam Segal:

I think long beards are here to stay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm
StringOFperils:

When robots decide to keep all the metal for themselves, you're gonna get hairy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm
Sam Segal:

Perhaps I should start stocking up on double edge razors now. They're pretty compact to store.
  11:12pm
Chris Farrell:

I feel like it wouldn’t hurt to always keep a healthy two week to month supply of any regularly used hygenic product.
Avatar 11:13pm
TDK60:

There was talk on another WFMU show weeks back that mullet haircuts for men would come back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm
Sam Segal:

It's only a matter of time. I definitely agree, TDK.
  11:14pm
rw:

Hi. I just shaved about three and a half hours ago. One of those multi-bladed cartridge jobs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm
chresti:

It's been nearly ten years since I went to a salon to get my hair cut. Franco has cut it for me since then.
Avatar 11:15pm
TDK60:

I didn't agree, Sam. I was mortified, and just listened in shock! Then there are others who believe the 1961 astronaut buzz cut is to return.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm
Sam Segal:

TDK, I think Bruce Springsteen had it right: "Maybe everything that dies someday comes back."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm
Sam Segal:

Welcome, clean shaven rw!
  11:19pm
rw:

Thanks Sam. Good to be here!
  11:21pm
Chris Farrell:

I’ve never been good at predicting stuff so I won’t submit an opinion on the future of hair styles. But I think affording yourself the luxury of learning and successfully cutting your hair would be nice. Or dodging any expenses that can be cumbersome. I have gotten along with most women who cut my hair so it’s been both good and bad!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
chresti:

I think it's been trending early 1920s-ish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
StringOFperils:

I hope mullets just get to be fish again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
chresti:

My co-worker has very long hair and wears it in a pony tail.
Haha Stringo.
  11:24pm
Chris Farrell:

There is a line of acceptance I take with AI technology and robotics. I think they could be great assessment machines.
Avatar 11:25pm
TDK60:

But, Chresti, I betcha the 1920s greased part-in-the-middle haircut for men doesn't make a comeback. / I saw a pompadoured rockabilly revival guy the other day. Where do these people hide? (aside from pandemics)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm
StringOFperils:

Really good show, Sam. These sets have been top-notch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm
chresti:

I see a lot of baldies at the courts.
Avatar 11:36pm
TDK60:

Who would've predicted men-buns in 1998? / Hey, great tunes Sam. I'm falling asleeeeppppppp....zzzzzzz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm
Sam Segal:

Thank you for digging the tunes, String and TDK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40pm

I still see man-buns, too. Good night TDK60 \\ //
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm

The "do" I can do without is every part of the head shaved except the top, their heads reminds me of worms with a hairy top.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
Franco Twinkie:

Since this conversation started, I washed and conditioned my hair. Now I must brush it out before bed or it will be a horrific tangle in the morning. It takes quite a bit of work to look totally neglected, but I'm up to the challenge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55pm

Chresti is threatening to put oil in my hair while I'm asleep.
