There's an episode of the show Superstore in which the Wal-Mart like chain requires all employees to sign on to an inhouse social media app. One of them brings up some points one might hear on this show about surveillance and is shut down for being paranoid, until they realize the app is monitoring their break times.

Gen Xers represent! I spent a lot of time and many quarters in the arcade near the Ledgewood Circle in northern NJ, and in various arcades down the shore. Oh, and I played the race-car game, Pole Position, at the Rockaway Roller Rink. All that said, I prefer pinball.

Never got into arcade games, but I do remember playing an elaborate board game involving interstellar travel and colonization. The rules prescribed a multi-dimensional play space with a bunch of chits. Roughly contemporary with Dungeons & Dragons. Anybody have an idea what this would have been called? We're talking '70s here.

The Willowbrook Mall had the Aladdin's Castle arcade into the 2000s. I'd go to a nearby Tex-Mex joint for lunch, play a bunch of rounds of Galaga (they had the souped-up quick-laser setting, so rock and roll!), then hit Borders for books. Best triad of geekery since the Tower Records–Newbury Comics–Compleat Strategist triangle I'd run through in Boston back in the Reagan–H.W. era at college.
